Test Track Singing Group Video

This (the thing in red) is the kind of comment that baffles me. I mean, I'm sure the All-Stars are thrilled that you're okay if they stay , but really ... if you don't want to see them, don't see them. There's no reason that they need to be gone by the time you visit. If the possibility that you might run into them while you're at Epcot causes you such distress, it'll be pretty easy to avoid them. First off, they'll be in front of a closed pavilion that you'll really have no reason to go to. (Because it's closed.) And secondly, their schedule will be printed in the Entertainment Times Guide, so all you have to do is not go to their performance location at those times.

Sheesh. I've never seen so many people complain about something that no one is forcing them to see.

:earsboy:

You're taking my comment too seriously. ::MinnieMo

Just to clarify MY opinion...I was not complaining about the new "entertainment" group. I was making fun of them. Two different things. :rotfl:

Exactamente! :) It's more ridiculous than upsetting. I just prefer not to come across them during my visit. I'm fairly confident they won't be there when I am. It has temporary written all over it. It doesn't seem like a very rewarding assignment. I think their talents would be appreciate more somewhere else. I'm sure that's the last place they want to be anyway! ha.

Contrary to what another poster posted, it's not necessarily possible to avoid them. I'm sure you have to pass them to get to certain areas... like the bathrooms ;)

I agree with the one poster who said that nobody is forcing you to go see these people sing. What is the purpose in making fun of them, does it solve anything? No and it is not a very kind thing to do, especially when some people make comments about their physical appearance (i.e., oompa loompa).

It sounds and looks like a very fun job to do, especially since they seem to have talent. And why is it ok to make a judgment based on a video?

I don't know, but sometimes the things people say make me really think and shake my head.

they are talented, i'll give them that. i can't carry a tune in a bag.

we thoroughly enjoy the singing groups, entertainment. we are 2 empty nesters, and enjoy this kind of stuff, unlike when we use to come with kids, and jump quicky from ride to ride.

I enjoy off kilter, jamminators, the old british invasion,(oops, sorry, not there naymore) love to stop and watch the chinese acrobats (oops, sorry, not there anymore) the mime in italy,4 for a dollar (oops, sorry, not there anymore).
I know this group was not meant to "replace" the test track ride I just found it humorous that they were trying to draw people in, (cause, you really DO have to walk out of your way to go to test track), like, come one over, listen to us!! , heym, I hope they DO draw people in, all the more that won't go over to wonders of life (oops, not there anymore).. ok mission space or ellen. anyway!! draw people away from soarin'. but I just HAD to crack up at listening to the old Chevy commercial!!!! really????

like salt in a wound.. I can't ride the ride, but I should be happy listening to an old chevy commercial?

rides have to be down from time to time.

it was ridiculous to have BTTR and TT down at the same time... just ridiculous. and they should have let people know in a more timely fashion.
and, to all the "apologists"... NO , it will not RUIN my trip.
my opinion.

A) if I were going before the FE were to be finished, I'd expect that WDW would have to refurb all the mechanicals to handle the expected crowds that event will generate, so I think now's as good as time as any to refurb TT.

B) I think the group is pretty darn talented and entertaining, but a bit corny, just like a Chevrolet...

C) it's not a ride, but it certainly fits "themed" entertainment. I can't get my head around the idea that they might actually work for Chevrolet, but nothing else would excuse them singing the old commercial song...

Who remembers how long the last refurb took -- what entertainment was available then? (answer - none)

I give them :thumbsup2:thumbsup2 for the effort.

I respect your opinon but some people don't think of making fun as "unkind" necessarily. Just funny. We're making light of something. These singers are what I like to call... easy targets :) I bet a million bucks that there isn't anyone on this board that hasn't made fun of something. These singers were talented but their schtick was horrible. The way I see it - you can't shove a bunch of corny performers out by a closed popular ride and expect anything else. You're gonna get all kinds of reactions when you put yourself in the center of attention.

I agree that making fun of their appearance is not necessary. Not sure what there was to make fun of there. They all looked pretty attractive to me. I'm a nice person. I'm not saintly but I'm nice. I see nothing wrong with poking fun when people are making goofballs out of themselves. I'm not just making fun of the singers, either, but Disney for thinking this was cool! :)

WOOOOOOW. How pathetic of Disney to assume that this would appease the masses looking for something THRILLING to do in place of Test Track. So lame.

Not to mention what an unnecessary time suck it ends up being. People who don't know any better will linger around the ride and assume this performance is part of it. That time is best used doing something a little more productive. No offense but come on. It's okay for the area to be vacant.

They weren't very straightforward about the closure either. You'd have to really be paying attention to everything they said/sang to catch the brief mention of it. Even the signs say vague things like, : "Test Track- Fall 2012". The digital wait-time signs simply say "renewal" rather than "closed". Don't the maps say something vague about it, too? It's so weird. Just say it's closed! It's okay. Most of us will keep walking and enjoy the other attractions. Then complain on the message boards when we get back ;)

What exactly could they offer in place of Test Track under refurb that would be THRILLING? I am picturing them putting up a couple of stock carnival rides in the parking lot. There woudl be complaints about those too.

I think by using "renewal" they are trying to state that the attraction is not closed PERMANENTLY.

The singers are getting paid. It may not bother them to have people on a message board making fun of them, they still get paid.

I didn't have a problem with the singers.

Why is the car in the new logo going backwards?

:thumbsup2

Trying to figure out if I've seen any of these performers in any other roles ... None of them look like Comedy Warehouse or Adventurers Club regulars, pretty sure none of them were in 4 for a $ ... I think I've seen one of the males as a "fill-in" Dapper Dan, and I may have seen one of the females with the Voices of Liberty. Possibly one or more were in American Vybe/Epcot Vybe, but it's been so long since I've seen Vybe, that I don't know for sure.

There's a thrilling simulator attraction that they own with "Sharp drops and sudden turns" that once held 4-5 hour lines and was Epcot's premier attraction prior to Test Track's opening.

They use the space outside of it to sell garden equipment currently while the ride vehicles sit there unused, but functional.

So, they -do- have options. Do not forget that.

The bass singer who says he's the IT guy is in Voices of Liberty.

Maybe this has been asked already but... why does there need to even be a show? I don't see the point.

What attraction was that? I sounds cool!

Yes, it's been asked.

No, there doesn't need to be one.

Except-

AFAIK, it is GM/Chevy that is requesting that there be a show.
And, since they are the ones paying for the promotional aspect of Test Track,
they may see a different kind of "need."
