Test Track Rumor

Another vote for not making it cars - I dont think they will, it would cost a lot to do it properly and make everything cartoon-ish. Unless they do a half-decent job and call it a day.

I agree with a PP - The speedway is a much better proposition for a cars ride - something for the kids that can keep them occupied and out of the way for a while, freeing up some space elsewhere in the park.

Or concentrate bigger rope drop crowds toward Soarin......

I can picture it now... like some kind of animal program...

Narrator: And here comes the spectacle of the Soarin' Stampede. Notice how the desire to observe basic manners, compassion or personal space all vanishes in the desire to reach that magical point... Human concerns suborned to natures raw desire to "GET ON THAT STUPID RIDE NOW! I PAID $xxx FOR THIS YOU UNGRATEFUL LITTLE... What do you mean you are suffocating? Get up! Come on! No time for asthma at WDW!"

It is bad enough now.

By the way, if you want a free on-ride souvenir (well, sort of) of Test Track, when you walk outside from the shop, look at the floor and into the planters on the side, the black rubber stuff you see there are bits of the tires of the ride vehicles. Because of the constant use, they loose rubber bits all the time.

This is even more obvious under the tracks in the backstage area, where they don't swipe it up constantly. :-)

If they are going to close it for 6 months I hope it opens as a new ride. I don't care if it is Cars themed or not - but I want it to look like something happened!

I don't know if the rumor is true or not, but it really does need the refurb. Not because it's outdated but because of the technically difficulties it keeps having. It actually worries me to ride it now because of the time I standing outside under where the cars zoom by and I watched as they came to a very loud screaming dead stop and the ride shut down. I love TT but wouldn't want to be 0-60 and come to a screeching hault.

I really hope they refurb it. Firstly the engine noises sound like their from a '78 Corvette. Secondly they make a big deal about ABS brakes. ABS breaks were legally mandated in 2001 I believe. I enjoy the ride, but it's very dated.

Ditto! It needs a refurb like crazy!

is the Cars rumor floating around because at Disneyland for the Cars land that the main attraction is a Cars ride similar to Test Track?

They need to keep Test Track the way it is.

I would like to see a refurb but I don't want it to be closed down for six months. I love the ride, I just think it needs updating.

In my opinion, Test Track ruined a perfectly good attraction when it replaced World of Motion. If there's going to be any changes now, I'd like to see it go back to something similar to that and not a thrill ride.

Not saying it is true or not but I don't think Disney would take on something like closing TT for 6 months and retheming it smack in the middle of the huge FL expansion project that is going on now.

I can't remember the dates that were mentioned, but there is a thread on here re: the upcoming Test Track renovation. I remember reading it in the past few weeks.

That is what I was thinking as well. The track system and ride vehicles of Radiator Springs Racers are basically the same, I have even heard some refer to it as Test Track 2.0.
I am really excited for that ride and can not wait to go out to Disneyland when it opens, but at the same time I would not want to see Test Track rethemed with Cars. Update and add to it if they have to, but keep the overall theme along the same lines as it is now.

TT was one of the rides that I specifically noticed looking tired and needing some TLC on our first trip to WDW last year.

It wasn't one of my favorite rides, mainly because I've experienced all the events in the ride at GM's Milford Proving Grounds in the past, in real GM development vehicles, so it didn't thrill me like it might others... All the others in my family really liked though, except we all agreed that the Queue was long and cumbersome even when the stand-by wait time was very low. Even the Fast passes didn't seem to shorten the wait all that much.

I personally think CARS would be a very cool theme for the attraction if done right.

Cars would be cool. But It's seems out of place being a Epcot. If they plan out doing a Cars attraction, HS or MK would be a better fit. IMO

That was my first thought. It doesn't seem logical at this time.

Since I have been hearing this rumor now, for what seems like 4 years, I'm not holding my breath.

My 7 year old son's favorite ride in all of the parks is Test Track. In fact, Epcot is his favorite park and this was before he became interested in learning about different countries.

I promised him I would take him to Cars Land in CA when it opened next year.

With that said, I'm sure he wouldn't want the Epcot Test track to be changed at all.
