Kids really want to do this. Is that part of the queue bypassed with FP+? What about with single rider? Can kids (7 and 9) even do the single rider (assuming I'm in line with them and will also do single rider)?

I had also heard that part might be bypassed first thing in the morning before the line builds. Is that true?

Thanks in advance for all the info!

We did FP+ for Test Track in January. We got there about 9:30am. We still did the portion where you design your car and load the information onto your Magic Band. So while I have not done standby in the new version, I didn't think we missed anything (except the lines).

I can't answer the single rider question however.

Single rider doesn't design their own car; you can choose from a few stock options though.

I designed the most amazing car... still when I climbed in our car in the loading area, it looked nothing like my design!!! :)

If you want to spend more time designing a car, go in through the exit and use one of the stations there. Once you have your cars saved on your card of magic band you can continue to use them no matter which line you take.

This is the best option.
FP and Standby get the full ride design. Single rider gets a preselection.

I think kids have to be 8 to ride alone, so no 7 year old through single rider line.

Thanks for that info. Anyone know if I can take my kids in the single rider line?

Official Disney Parks rule: "To board an attraction, children under 7 must be accompanied by a person age 14 years or older." So, yes, your 7 year old can go in the single rider line. Just know, they may end up in a different car than you which would mean they could end the ride before or after you.

You should understand that the car you design has absolutely nothing to do with the car you ride in. There are signs along the way to let you know how your car is doing but the reality is that there are six people in the car and the car cannot preform six different ways at the same time. I'm not saying it is not fun, lots of people enjoy the design part, but no matter how you design the car it will have no effect on the ride portion. It is basically a before and after the ride activity to keep people entertained while they are standing in line.

I like the design your car part of the revamped Test Track but the ride itself was much more fun the old way. The new revision is just, "MEH"!

True, but my kids love designing their own car. It's a big deal to them. They like to see which of them gets a higher score.
