I have never tried linking such a large file to our server.

I wanted to test this out here to see if it is feasible.

I think that those who wish to download this 200 MB MPEG probably either need patience or a fast connection.

Also, they probably need an updated Windows Media Player.

So try this out, and let me know if it works for you Tech Board moderators.

A rendering error?

I got the same thing on my office computer but wasn't sure if it was because I am running an old windows program.

Could it be our server? We are running Windows NT. Is it to big a file for the server to upload? It is a pretty fast connection.

I guess I could shrink it down because it is 700 x 720 pixels for "DVD quality" when I compressed it.

Any other thoughts????

It's not allowing enough bandwidth for the file to stream it. 21k/sec (at the moment) is VERY low for something that big.

I am downloading it right now and it is letting me do that at the above speed.

I have watched files bigger than that before, so I know it can be done.

I normaly embed files like this in Flash so I'm not sure how much I can help you with Media Player problems. What did the compression?

I compressed from an AVI file to MPEG using Studio DV by Pinnacle.

I can compress it to a streaming Real Audio file. I just wasn't sure that people would have that "driver" to view it.

I figure WMP was more ubiquitous.

So, what would you suggest, go to a streaming format or shrink the MPEG file?

I guess I should qualify that last statement.

My downloads are fast, but obviously at 21 KB/s, my upload is too slow.

I think I will shrink the file size down by compressing it to a smaller window size.

Thanks for the help. I may be back tomorrow to try this again.
