I'm sur eyou have answered this, but is Cam going to public or private school?

As kindergarten is getting closer for Nico I am getting mroe and more sad :(

Our parish (Catholic) school. The public school's kindergarden program is goofy -- it's 2 full and one half day a week, depending on your "zone", you either go Mon-Wed-AM Fri or Tues-Thurs-PM Fri. :sad2:

We figured we'd go with our Catholic school for a few years and see how he likes it. Once Cam gets around middle school aged, we'll see if he wants to switch over to the public school. The middle school here is huge and brand new and the high school is completely renovated and high tech as well.

That is bizzare about the different school districts. Is the catholic school all day or half day?

Kindergarten here is full day and it was back in DC when I was there. I learned in philly that there were half day schools.

I think we have deicded to do the exact opposite. We are putting Nico in public schools and see how he does. I heard that come first grade they have the advance classes..so i am hoping that he does well there.

Come middle school and high school, they will go to private (although co ed) schools. The public high schools and middle schools here aren't so hot, but the elementry schools seem to be pretty good. It's so long away, who knows if I will even still be in this state, but for now, that is the plan.

Full day, 5 days. Which is what he's done this year for pre-K, so it would be going backwards for him to go 2 1/2 days for K. They also have an after school program which we might need unless we've found help (a part-time nanny) by August.

Good Morning everyone

Ed- glad you like the concert
Was the average of the people at the concert about 10?
I took my Danielle and her friend last year, they enjoyed it.

Sweet & TVT are you going to behave yourselves today? :teeth:

Bob- have a safe trip. my best to you and your family

pam- did you have any left over ice cream?
though it might melt in mail :scratchin
the mailman might not be too happy with that
and I'd better tip big this Christmas :teeth:

Mac- how are you?

once again i forgot what else i was going to say

i have to do this in chapters :rotfl:

Here GA does a free preK prgram run by the state lottery (I was actaully suprised at how excellent the program was, but it could have been the center Nico went to) that is all day. I completely agree about going backwards, plus very difficult when two parents are working.

Heck, Sammie is going 2 days a week and she is 1. I can't imagine putting an almost 6yo in for only 2 1/2 days.

Deena - what is it in TX? Is it half day or full day?

ed--glad you enjoyed the concert! That is funny that chris picked up on the NON-singer!

When Trent went to kindergarten it was a 1/2 day everyday. The year before Noah went they switched to all day everyday here. The catholic school changed theirs to what bob is saying...2 1/2 days. I guess they freed up more room because last year they started going all day.

IMO they really don't learn much when they go 1/2 days or just a couple days a week...you are always reviewing with them, and if they go 1/2 days then it is consumed with recess and milk time....I am glad our school switched to all day!

Hello :wave2:

and HAPPY BIRTHDAY again, it bears repeating..and we do so love a party..........and fireworks :p

Have a safe trip on the road this evening Bob, as I'm sure the whole thing will be very draining and sad :grouphug:

Ed, that is so cute what Chris said, that kid has an :listen: and knows the scoop :rotfl: I could have bet that Elliot and Chris rocked the house...

MuffyJo....we will go s-l-o-w and you can catch up on the cast of characters and what they all say......... :thumbsup2 We are here to help...

I see our twins are conversing with each other :lmao: They must like each other...purty critters aren't they?

Happy Birthday to You Now!:Pinkbounc

mac - some troll stole my "i" from Zit(i):magnify:

mic - you make me laff!

ed - Kelli just has to stand there vacant-eyed to satisfy her audience...want to bet how low before she shows up in Playboy or Dollywood?

Bob - until the diocese pulled the plug, we were products of our local parochial school. Does teach the young'ins how to sit still, if nothing else.;) My 2 older kids were @ a learning level a grade or 2 ahead when they entered public school.:thumbsup2

Everyone have a good one!

sweet- they have camp/school for one year olds?

Actaully, Sammie went to camp last year with the other two kids. If you are willing to pay for it, they will take them. But its 180 per week for two.

Yes, Sammie will start preschool in the fall. 2 days a week from 9:30-1pm. Julie will go those hours 5 days a week. She (sammie) turns 2 in Oct, but the 1yo class you have to be 1 and walking. She could have started once she started walking (right after Christmas break) this year, but i held her out.

I was a Catholic school product for my whole life, as was DW (even college, technically, as we both went to a Jesuit school).

I was a little concerned about the grade school because of my childhood experience, where there wasn't much by way of accelerated classes (or choices in general) and I was behind when I got to high school. But we went and toured the school with the principal and we were both impressed with all they have to offer. :thumbsup2
