wait, i am not first, mr bob beat me to it.

i thought he posted last night.

Nah, I'm rarely online at night. Actually, I was online briefly last night, but just enough time to print out our taxes to review them (we filed an extension  )

I'm in meetings much of the day.

morning all

mac- hope the cat feels better. Am I early enough today? :teeth:

have a good day all :wave2:

Danielle's guidance counselor suggested she be in 7th grade honor Social Studies along with English & Science.

being that i wasn't an honor :rolleyes1
i'm not sure if that might be a heavy workload. She does stress a bit
when it comes to mid-terms & final.

has anyone else had kid with honors or been it themselves?

Morning all!

Ed--great pictures :thumbsup2 I especially like the one of that guy! ;) :rotfl: He couldn't have positioned himself better even if he tried!

Mac--make sure that cat don't eat today! Hate for you to go three days in a row!

muffy--you are early today!!! No one standing behind ya yet?! :teeth:

I don't have the baby today so I think as soon as everyone gets here Malarie and I are going to take the kids down to the school....they have a huge new playground the the kids love!

Have a good hump everyone!!

morning pam,
yes, we will all have a good hump today since you told us to.......... :rolleyes1

muffy, 3 of my boys did the honor thing in school.
2 of them went to the accelerated program in grade school, 1 didn't.

they continued thru hs in the ac programs.
i pulled one out at the end of the junior year and the other out sophomore year. too much stress. all 3 boys were accepted to the college of their choice at the beginning of their senior year in hs. that advance class program is a load of crap they feed to the students and parents on, take the ac program and it will better your chances for college........

i had all 3 on medications for stress due to school in part.
some kids are overachievers and some aren't.

when it gets to the point that school is a frustration, take her out of the program. the outcome of what could happen just isn't worth it.

children that are prone to depression can exceed in the advanced programs.
my youngest medical problem had nothing to do with stress at school for his issues.

when i look back and know what i know today, i would still push and encourage my kids to be challenged in school. but, i would have waited until they were in 8th grade to start it all.

thanks mac :goodvibes

she wants to do it, but doesn't realize the workload. her regular classes do seem easy for her this year. she doesn't study much and stills brings in 94 & above.
in January she got stressed about mid-terms and other things.
she's seeing a therapist.

the 2 kids are so different. Valerie is so laid back and is happy with her upper 80's and doesn't take school as serious as Danielle.

Good morning, and happy hump day :cool1:

EEWWWWWWWWWW...ticks...or tick-ets as my son called them when he was little..he would say "mom, I think I have tick-ets" :goodvibes AAhhh...thanks for the memory Pam :thumbsup2

Bob, hope all files well with taxes and the extension..good luck

Ed, AWESOME pics. Now how appropriate is that picture of the **** ruining your picture?? You need to submit that photo to someplace.. :lmao: it should get an award. The champagne looked scrumptious. Glad you guys enjoyed the moment and had a nice anniversary celebration. Boo on the Sox against the Jays....... :furious:

Both my boys could have done honors, but the oldest was more laid back and didn't really care about "excelling". I think he had a few honors classes along the way. Son #2 was more "bookish" and did well with those classes. School was never really hard for him, he can remember crap from 10 yrs. ago for pete's sake ;) It is personal I think, and whatever you feel she can handle. I agree with mac, if it becomes stressful, take her out. Sounds like she is up for th challange. Just my 2 cents and you can ignore me if you like :p a lot of people do :teeth:

Mac, your kitty is like the Energizer Bunny, just keeps on going :yay:

Morning!

Already spent morning driving oldest DS to get car inspected & cooking big breakfast. He decided to sleep here today-worked midnight (no trouble in paradise, just waiting for his car to get inspected)...think he's homesick.

Youngest DS's team won 8-1 last night (IMO, since we've only lost 1 game - they should just hand us the trophy now & we can all go swimming).

Poochie (my ferocious schipperke) got into a battle with a snake of undetermined pedigree last night! Couldn't really get a good look, under deck & getting dark but, it had a light colored underbelly & looked awfully big. It kept striking @ her & she managed to avoid getting bit. She got a few licks in herself. By the time DH grabbed the dog to put her in the house, the snake slithered off. I think I want to pave over my yard. The whole varmit thing is getting old FAST.

We had to call game control once @ our other house for a copper-head on the front porch (wrapped around a flag pole - no less) & we found them again in a retaining wall. DH is in the process of tearing out/rebuilding the wall/steps in the front of our house & I fear he's displacing them.

Usually, I'm not too sqeamish but, I've take to wearing shoes in the house & yard.

My 3 sons all tested very high, only put oldest & youngest in honors program. Middle DS doesn't have ADD, he's just a handful; we just kept him in regular placement. I kept hearing "...he's not succeeding because he's not challenged???". We even took him to Sylvan & after testing him in 9th grade told me he was @ post HS level. Some kids are all about the social aspect of school. Youngest DS will be dragging himself off to enrichment/review classes for Algebra. I have a policy that anything below a B is grounds for summer school. Yes, I have received the worst mother of the year award - many times running.:teeth:

Need to get me a gun...to shoot them critters...hear their good eatin':teeth: .

Haven't seen a tick (squirrels & snakes probably eat them), hope not to...

Good Morning all.

KS if my wife saw snakes, the house would be for sale the next day.

We spray for ticks dont need those things around.

Its just my oldest in school and he is 1st grade so Honors classes yet.

I was an honors geek (yeah, I know, you're all surprised by that :rolleyes1 :teeth: ). At times, I found honors classes to be easier than regular classes -- there seemed to be less focus on day-to-day homework and more of a focus on big projects, which I always could knock off pretty quickly. :thumbsup2

SNAKES!!!!!!!!! okay...you win!!!!! I HATE SNAKES!!!!! I'm with ed's wife....my house would be for sale!!!!

No honors programs here...I bet your as suprised as you are to hear about Bob?! No, my school was very small and just had regular classes. Not sure what our school has now though...Trent is testing advanced in pretty much everything, but his everyday work is lacking...guess he just gets bored! :confused3

Have I told you guys how much I LOVE Malarie helping me?!!? :cloud9: I took Trent to baseball practice and picked him up and we also went to the park today too....It is always a good morning when you don't have to be stuck in the closet all day! :teeth:

Tomorrow I have to get busy again and start cleaning the basement again if i want to stay on my June 10th deadline!

I'd sell my home but dealing w/the Realtor (me) is a pain in the butt.LOL

Pam - would rather face down a snake than clean my basement, especially under a deadline - what's up w/that?

Bob's got the honors system down pat:thumbsup2 I got a trip to FL out of it for academic games many years ago. Youngest is still trying to qualify...when he mouths off & gets full of himself, I remind him of that fact.

Pam goes on the cleanout brigade every year to ready herself for her annual garage sale..she makes lots of
2219792.jpeg
this every year...and then she can come see me again!!

Yes, my deadline is the one I made for myself...i work soooo much better under pressure... That being said I will still be cleaning out my basement on the 9th!

I need to borrow Bob's cleaning lady.....you know the one who doesn't know Monday was a Holiday!

Busy night for me....again....Aubrey has dance tonight and then t-ball practice and Noah has a game...going to be a crazy weekend as it is the recital weekend...Next week I will actually have nothing to do a couple of nights! :cool1:

I've got a free night - not sure what to do, certainly not anything constructive.

Bob's cleaning lady was probably angling for holiday pay!

I've never gone thru with organizing a garage sale, always afraid DH will get called out to work & I'll have people banging on my door @ 7:00 a.m. for "pre-sales"...good luck!

i just read what i missed and looks like you all had the fun today.

i took fat cat to the vet, what a chore........what a whinnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnny kitty i have at times.

got a call from the vet and have to take cat off the insulin. wow....i hope she doesn't kick the bucket since she is diabetic.......

went to kohls this afternoon and got umpteen phone calls.
mr mac kept calling as he was checking on line at work my charges....

and then he calls about things he could wait and talk to me when he gets home from work. stupid things like, who is our phone carrier?
who is the dsl carrier??

i handle all the stuff and he pays the bills.

sadly, did not do any more shopping than one store.

ill be back later tonight.

mac - going off the insulin, is that a good thing? does that mean whiney kitty is getting "better"?:wizard:

maybe mr. mac missed mrs. mac (say that 3 times fast).
