They say that today is suppose to be the most depressing day of the year...that is what i heard on the today show........

I wonder why that is! Although, it is wicked yucky here today. Cold and raining. But, I am reading a wicked good novel (full of steamy scenes) so it's not going to happen to me today.

Well, I have Lady & Tramp on VHS...in fact I think I have 2 of them, an original and one from the last time it came out, but I may order it on DVD just to have it in that format...it is my favorite movie...I will get Chicken Little for grandson's...Easter gift no doubt...did you guys see it? was it any good?

Raining here too this morning and bleak.....doesn't get one's motor running on a Monday morning that's for sure...

It is suppose to be mild and nice here all week!! Now I wish I didn't have anything going on...so I could be out enjoying it!

About this being the most depressing day of the year...they also said that the happiest day of the year is 6 months away!

I believe today is the longest (and darkest) day of the year, that's why it's also the most depressing. The good news is that every day from here on out has a little more daytime than the day before it.

They are going to start changing daylight saving time. Im all for that. I love when it is daylight longer.

oh you mean there is good news! I hate when it gets dark at 5:00pm!!! I love it when the sun doesn't go down till 9pm!!! Then again, I can't put my kids to bed early, because they always tell me that they can't go to bed because it isn't dark outside yet!

ITA -- nothing is more depressing than driving to AND from work in the dark. Since I'm nowhere near a window, I often go an entire day without seeing daylight.

I heard that same report Bob, I think it had to do with the fact that the holidays are over its still awhile to go before spring, the Credit card bills are coming in from Christmas ect ect.




The first day of winter is always the shortest day of the year in terms of actual daylight, but in reality the days just before and after are just about as short, with the actual amount of daylight still the same in terms of hours and minutes. Only seconds separate the difference in length on the surrounding days.

After Christmas, the amount of daylight increases slowly, returning to just over 10 hours on the 6th of January.

Today we get 09:40:07 of daylight

by the 1st of February we will have 09:59:37 and the sun will be setting at 04:58:38 PM
