wow...........

we have always done our holidays at home with just our family inside our four walls.

the only time we do that is on christmas morning. We are usually very rushed that morning as we have to be someplace by noon

My dad's side even get together for the 4th of july!! We have a really close family. I grew up with my furthest cousin living 3 miles away. Well with the exception of my aunt i guess she lived 20 miles away.

we have never been at any relative's house for a holiday.

have always stayed home.

the good part of that is plenty of leftovers............yum yum, turkey for a few days :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

a 19.5 turkey will last us for 2 full meals and a couple of sandwiches.

everyone here  turkey.

there was one year i had to buy a small turkey roast to make the tettrazine after that thursday.

[/B]Greetings everyone. Hope everybody had a truly enjoyable weekend.

I just booked our airfare on Jetblue for $39 each way from Newark to Orlando for me, dw, ds 7 and dd 2 for January 11th through the 17th. I had to get that airfare because it was too good to pass up. Now, to book the hotel. So far I am leaning towards the Caribbean Resort but I have never been there. Looking through Liberty Travel, it seems that a package with room and tickets (ultimate park hoppers) will run about $1700 or so. Does that seem realistic? I am a AAA member is there anything better than that?

I know I can count on my test thread buddies to get me a great deal. I don't really care where we stay with the exception of the lower end resorts. Any suggestions?[/B]

hey adam.....you have come to the right place with those questions.

i went in value season and for the all stars it was $61 a night and that was with tax. for a moderate i think it was a base of $75 a night plus tax if you go thru AAA.

you can have AAA agent book you or disney has a AAa agent. i used the disney AAA service. for a solo using AAA for 10 nights at allstar sports with 10 day hopper tickets back in sept/oct it was $903. now that is based on double occupancy even tho i was solo there.

there is a special going on now for the room and tickets thru disney and i don't remember the codes though. it is myw tickets as a hopper and the option, room and free dining. the chgo paper had it for under $1500 for a family of 4 for 6 nights/7days promo. think the total cost for room, tickets, dining was $1455. forgot what your prices were so i need to reread your question.

book the room as soon as you can.
if you go with the package, you can get the free dining but book the adr's now as many are filling up. this is what i know based on the other threads i post and read on.

i will help you with what i can on this for the best prices for you

am back.
you only need park tickets for the son. the daughter will be free for park admission.
do you really want the ultimate hoppers? they include pleasure island, disney quest, and water parks. one of the water parks will be closed in january.
the special that is going on is free hoppers and options if you go with the disney package. there are 4 codes available right now.
i am thinking the free dining is one of them for a time period in january.

why pay the high end of the price for the ultimate passes when it can be free under one of the codes and packages. you would lose the room discount buy might come out ahead on the ticket portion.
the ultimate passes are only worth it imo if you do the parks and clubs at p.i.
i would have to crunch some numbers to figure that one out.
you can pm me and we can take it from there if you wish.
my hoppers cost just around $320 for 10 days.
i originally booked AAA room with the advance purchase of 10- day hopper (you get a $23 discount by buying them in advance)

i switched it when the free dining came out. to get that deal i had to have a disney package to get that free dining though. it cost me over $189 more from my original deal to the package deal.
wait, it was 903 for the tickets/room
when i switched to the disney package of room/tickets/dining i paid $1107 so it was more than $200.....
let me look in our weekend chgo paper to see what the code was for the special they listed.

i think the $1700 would be a pretty good deal for 6 nights/7 days at a moderate.
let me check out the new codes that have the dining and i will let you know what i find.

i love planning disney trips even if it isn't mine..........

mac, she is our planner!!!

Congrats on your upcoming trip adam!!! Dave has been hounding me that he wants to go back to WDW, but we promised the kids we would go to san antonio this year. So, who knows what we will end up doing after we take them to Texas ;)

hey mac--looks like your car problems came my way! Looks like i may need new brake pads for my vehicle. It just turned 36,000 so i guess since the warranty is over that more things need to go wrong with it! :confused3

Well I think i am going to call it a night! See everyone in the morning!

good morning ......

it is

again....

pam, bite your tongue.
car troubles........i think they run in threes.

my engine light came on yesterday. trying to figure it out from the manuel.
its either the electrical system or transmission.
gee, which is cheaper.???

pam

do texas in the summer then do disney the last week of sept/first part of october and i will see all of you in the mother land :moped:

decided to go to work and forget about car troubles.

hoping the car will make it to school today.

catch you all later

morning all!

yuck, 4:30am??? that would require a nap at nap time for me! ;)

mac--we have discussed that so who knows what we will end up doing! :confused3 We will have to see where we are at 6 months from now. I do however, need to start looking into san antonio. I just don't know where to start there....it's not as fun as planning for disney!

waiting for the rest of my kids to come. I think i am going to go start my mounds full of laundry....laundry is almost as bad as the grocery store!

Darn strict employers -- they frown upon napping at the office.

yeah i could see where you might not be able to get away with it! Unless you tell them that you are in a meeting and you do not want to be interrupted!! :teeth:

I know mac is going to cook for her family, what is everyone doing for thanksgiving????

For the first time in 9 years we're NOT hosting Thanksgiving. Every previous year since we got married we'd hosted Thanksgiving at our house, but instead this year, we're going to our friends' house (DS2's godfather) along with the rest of DW's family. We'll be hosting Christmas this year in it's place, which will work out great, since I hate travelling with the kids on Christmas Day. :)

That sounds very fun!

we always are on the go on the holidays! We have only not went anywhere once on christmas day in my entire life and that was like 3 years ago. So I had Dave's family over and made them a meal. The thing about it is...if you forgot to buy something and you go to make it on x-mas day you are pretty much sol because all the stores are closed here....except for a few gas station!

Good Morning everyone.
Going to my sisters for Thanksgiving the whole fam damily will be there.

Did someone say Nap.
