Hi you guys and gals....
First thanks for all the good wishes and get wells. It really helps to know that there are people pulling for you.
Here is what happened.
I woke up Tuesday morning and my back was killing me. I had been moving furniture for a couple days prior because my place was getting painted and I just figured I had tweaked an old injury. So I got it the shower to start getting ready for work. As I was in the shower, I started to fell really sick to my stomach and I just figured that was part of the back ache. I got dressed and went on to work.
Just a few minutes at the office and I really started to feel like ****. I told them I was not feeling good and was going back home. I guess this was about 6:45 a.m. When I got home I got my clothes off and crawled into bed and all of a sudden I couldn't breathe and my chest felt like someone had a foot on me stomping me. I called a friend and asked them to take me to the ER because I knew something wasn't right.
We got to Florida Hospital Celebration at about 8:00 a.m. and they took me right in. The hooked up and EKG and checked my blood pressure. Both were out of whack and my BP was sky high. They said "sir you may be having a heart attack we need to move you to an ICU unit to work on you." They put a nitro glycerin patch on my neck and started IV lines for medicine and drew blood. By this time I'm scared ****less. They get me moved to the other unit and start doing more tests. New EKG looks better. Pain has subsided. For the moment I'm stable.
So now it's 2 in the afternoon and the DR is calling to get me set up in the cardiac unit . Guess they are keeping for a while. I have to say that this hospital is really nice. The rooms are all private and for a hospital room they are huge. Bed, couch. 2 chairs and a recliner in each room as well as a personal laptop computer/ TV/ radio/ game console combo !!
After a few hour of CONSTANT attention from the nurses the DR comes in and tells me what is in store for me Wednesday. First I'll have a sonogram (sp) then a nuclear stress test, then a REAL stress test, then another nuclear stress test. Sounds like fun huh?
I get all the tests completed and after the treadmill test I figured I was gonna die anyway !! DAMN.....My "at rest heart beat we 88 and they wanted me to get it to 145 bpm...I got it to 164 and told him to catch me cause I was taking the express line off this thing!
The test showed something he said he wasn't happy with and that Thursday morning they would come and get me and do the heart cath procedure. Now I was scared. Well Thursday morning came and went and I'm still in the room. At about 12:30 they come in and shave me. Now thats a humbling thing to have done to you.
Once that is done they load me up and take me to the Cath Lab for the test. I get there and they put me in a little glass room and start hooking me up to everything. Then they decide I wasn't shaved enough so they take a go at me. Now I have no hair from my navel down to both my knees!!
So anyway, I lay there for 2 hours and they come tell me that they are so sorry but the equipment has failed and they can't do me then and will reschedule for first thing Friday morning.
You know, It took me all of the prior night to get myself geared up for this and now I have to wait again. That sucked. But at 5:30 a.m. Friday morning thy were in my room loading me up to go again. I went from my room to the table and then to la-la land. It took them about an hour to get set up and about 30 minutes for the procedure. I was awake the whole time but in a "different place" if ya get my drift. They did find a clog and told me they were fixing it right then. Did they expect me to argue??
Anyway when the procedure was over something happened and they all went into a different mode. When they uncovered me I was soaking wet from sweat. They started to ask me if I was in pain ?? There is a name for what happened but I can't remember what it was. It's when the blood pressure starts to bottom out and you start to pass out, or something like that. Anyway I told them I was not in any pain I was just hot.
The procedure went well and they got me all fixed up and sent me home mid-afternoon yesterday. I'm limited in what I can do for a few days and today I will get my first shower since MONDAY!!! Who wants a hug??
So that's it, that's what happened. And again thank you all for the prayers and support. It is greatly appreciated.....
