Hello WISH friends!!

The fun of the Money Pit (that's our house) continues. I am sure, at some point or another, it will become impossible for another thing to break around here. Instead of spending yesterday finishing up Christmas items, I spent hours cleaning the house from the dust. Our cooktop (which has been down to 2 burners for 3 months) arrived yesterday. The countertop had to be cut for it to fit. Despite covering the openings and taping things shut, the dust managed to spread nice and thick throughout the kitchen, dining room, family room, pantry. I have lost count of the loads of dishes. Good thing we are using paper plates tomorrow. ;) hee hee

I am continuing with my prednisone. No wheezing! Very little coughing! YEAH!! :cool1: I am loving that!!! ::yes:: Especially after yesterday!!

Tomorrow we will have 17-18 people over for Christmas. A bigger crowd than Thanksgiving! I think I am ready. I delegated a lot more of the cooking this time, so that will help. Having more than 2 burners will REALLY help!

The temps are still too cold to go outside for training. The treadmill is still out for me. I am going to try and do some back to back WATP tapes - just to get the time in, so my muscles are used to working continuously. I really want that medal!

When I signed up for this marathon, it was just as something 'fun' to do. (HA!) As I have gotten into training, I realize that there is a lot more required to do something like this, than just 'go'. I have a much better appreciation for everyone who follows their exercise routine - whether training for an event or simply training for life. After this whirlwind year of moving and being diagnosed with MS, completing this marathon means more to me than I dreamed it would.

Soo..... let me close by saying THANK YOU to my WISH Journal friends! I really appreciate each and every one of you. Whether you are a regular poster or just occasional, the words of encouragement and support found here is awesome! DIS WISHERS are the BEST!!!!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO US ALL!!

Your optimism and courage are qualities of yours that really stand out, Terry. I'm glad that we've gotten to know each other here on the WISH.

Have a wonderful Christmas celebration with your family and friends.

Love,
Erin

Have a wonderful holiday and fun with your company. Glad you are feeling better.

Hi Terry...

That's pretty funny calling your house The Money Pit, even though I know it's not funny for you.

Hope you and your family have a wonderful holiday and best to you in 2005. Good luck with all those people at your house for Christmas. What the heck were you thinking??? :earseek: :earseek: :earseek:

Merry Christmas, Terry! I hope that today is a wonderful day filled with love, laughter, and fun!

Hi Terry,

I laughed at your reference to the money pit (I loved that movie). Anytime I start thinking about fixing something in my house I end with "it should just be knocked down and start from scratch", so I do nothing!

I will be cheering for you on Marathon Day all the way from Massachusetts! You are doing something incredible, overcoming physical challenges and a rough year. I am so sad I won't be joining the WISH Walkers but I will be there in heart!!!!!!

Terry, I know it's not funny that your house has so many problems but you have such a good attitude about it and it makes me chuckle to read your accounts of the newest events. It's nice that you keep your sense of humor through everything that happens to you. ::yes::

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas! I hope you are able to get back to training soon. I know you are going to do awesome in the marathon. Know why? Because you're an awesome lady so awesome is all you can be! :cool1:

Christmas was wonderful here... first time in 7 years we spent the actual day with family. Typically we are piling into the car the day after Christmas to drive 6-9 hours to get to our families. 20 people... lots of food... lots of fun... definitely a full house.

Sunday is my injection day and I have to walk for an hour afterwards, but I decided to 'go for it' and did 11 miles of WATP. I used the 4 mile Super Challenge - did that twice and then rewound and did the final 3 miles for the third time. I know it isn't the same as walking on the treadmill or outside but with my treadmill out of commission and the weather too cold for my prednisone (only 2 more days of that!), this was the best option I had. I finished 24 ounces of water, 12 ounces of Powerade and felt strong at the end, except for the leg lifts. (The leg that gets the shot is always weaker several hours following.)

Sunny: thank you for your support! I appreciate all of the support everyone has given me. Can I carry your name on a lime green Mickey head during the marathon? I didn't give Beth a choice -- she is coming along for the walk whether she wants to or not! hee hee All of the WISHers will be there with me - either in person or in spirit! Anyone else want to sweat with me? Just let me know!

The Money Pit? I made that "knock it down and start over" suggestion today, but DH wasn't buying it. Hmmm... I wonder why not? ;) He is on a Mold Mission and slowly the basement is being taken apart and put back together. As much as I hate having to do all of this, it is right to try and get as much done as we can before the new carpet goes in. Thank you State Farm for spurring this latest project. I am sure there will be more fun stories to come! We already found a dog's chew toy hammered to a stud behind some drywall, insulation and mold. Fun stuff!

Only 2 more weeks before the marathon, then I will be returning to my focus on my weight loss (gotta get that moving again!).

Happy Holidays to everyone as they wrap up 2004 and prepare for 2005! :grouphug:

Terry - Glad you and your family had a great Christmas. With everything you guys have gone through, you deserve it.

I would be honored to sweat with you on your marathon if you have enough room on your hat :earboy2: I'll definitely be there with you in spirit. You guys have GOT to make sure to take pictures and post for us ::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes::

Terry, I want to go on your walk with you too! Do you think that I'll lose some weight through osmosis by having my name attached to your body while you walk? :teeth:

LOL, Michelle! No promises there! My dd asked me.... how would I feel if I went to the marathon, walked and came home straight? I told her, if my body hadn't changed shape with all of the training walking, I didn't think it would happen in WDW! It's a magical place but not THAT magical! :earseek: (I really stress that I am doing this for HEALTH reasons, versus weight.) I think she is worried that I will look different when I return, but I assured her the same Mommy will be back. :)

Did my walking yesterday and lots of shopping with my sister. We bought the bulk of the things we need for the trip. I even found a sports bra to fit! :earseek: Tomorrow morning we are going to do a 'test' run. Getting up early, dressing, going to walk (definitely 10 miles for her, I am thinking 8 for me since I have done a long walk already) and then come back and see how our bodies recover. I had to do some tweaking of my outfit, since temps are higher than I anticipated. Gotta get that worked out before we go too!

Eating - focusing on good eating habits: fruits, veggies, good carbs and proteins. Nothing new, no big changes. Drinking lots of water and sipping my powerade, to keep my body hydrated, per the Penguin's instructions. ;) I think I might be ready!!

I went to Home Depot yesterday and got some more Mickey Heads! It looks like Beth, Tera, Sunny, and Michelle are coming for a ride. ::yes:: If anyone else needs a lift, just let me know!

Terry you are doing awesome! I am so proud of you for seeing this marathon through despite everything else you've gone through this year. Yeah for you Terry!! :cheer2: :cheer2:

Hope you have a wonderful New Year's. Have any interesting plans??? My DH has to work till 5 New Years Eve and then 7:30 to 2 pm on New Years Day. :guilty: Guess we will be having an early night! :earboy2:

Hmm.... does working on the Money Pit and going to bed early count as plans? ;)

Seriously we will probably be at home with the kids, since my sitters... er, uhm... siSters have plans.

As much as I hate to do it, we might start putting the Christmas stuff away, so it isn't still here waiting for me when I get back from WDW. We will watch some movies, play some board games (we all love that!), and just hang out. I am usually the only one still awake when the ball drops on tv!

Just think how nice your basement will be when it is all done.

Good luck with the marathon. Two of my friends from work went 2 years ago and loved it. :cool1:

Hi Terry,

You are doig an awesome job. 11 miles of WATP AFTER the shot is inspiring. You are definately ready for the 1/2 marathon. I'm glad to hear that you received your new range top before Christmas. it must have been a huge help with Chrstmas dinner.

I started putting things away today. I need to declutter a bit. The tree will be the last thing I take down, but also the biggest job.

Have a great evening,
Beth

:cool1: Man, girl, you're a walking MACHINE! Congrats on the amazing things you've accomplished. The WDW event will be the icing on your cake!

Sounds like you're having the EXACT New Year's Eve that we're having. If you want to know the truth, though, it's my favorite kind. I love being at home all cozied up doing family things. Maybe when my daughter's out of the house I'll go back to those days of dressing up and joining the party, but for now, well, just get the Monopoly board out. :D

Just a quick question: when you're done with the Marathon, you're going to continue journaling, aren't you? I'd really miss you, Terry, if you left. Besides, where would I get the tough love I need? :earboy2:
