Terror level on HIGH - anyone freaking?

Actually I don't notice much difference between Yellow and Orange. I routinely take my shoes off, regardless of what kind I am wearing. Some screeners just have hissy fits about any shoes.

As a matter of fact if you watch a lot of business travelers just start "stripping" while in line. All costume jewerly goes in the carryon, belts come off, shoes come off etc.... Regardless of the alert. It's just not worth the hassle of setting that thing off!

I too am a very nervous flyier! I just got back yersterday from WDW (yes, I flew of New Years Day). I'm the type person that will worry, look at the alert codes, etc. for weeks before I fly. then when it actually gets here, there's no way it can be as bad as I have pictured it in my mind.(LOL) I did, however, look at my fellow passengers for anyone that looked SUSPECIOUS! (I'm sure I wasn't the only one doing this.HA HA) Everthing went very smoothly and I actually felt very safe. They do check your ID and boarding pass several times .(I like this) And, They were pulling every two or three people out of the line to do a complete check on them. But everything did go well. I too feel that if anthing begab to happen, the fellow passengers would Jump them before anything really bad could happen.(Let me live in my dream world )

I flew in late Oct. and even though it wasnt at a high alert I sat and really thought about what it was that I could use as a weapon should anyone get out of hand...its amazing what I came up with...it shocks me that they would knitting needles on...but hey-its their rules we just play by them...

we fly out Jan 29...I plan on having lots of picture ID...and waiting for tsa with bags wide open, electronic ready for hand inspection and film ready for a "hand check"...and I dont think I'll be wearing the underwire bras either---oh and my belt will go in the basket too...along with my shoes...

it will be BF's first flight in years...so we'll have to prep him for this...

One government issued photo id will be more than enough. electronics don't need hand inspection, put it in a try and let it go.
If you have a laptop, you will need to take it out of the carrying case. You don't have to open the bags, in fact, keep them closed to make sure nothing spills out. If they need to see anything, they will open them. Your belt will be fine on your body, shoes, in the basket, change in your pockets, in the basket.
Relax, it will be fine. If knitting needles shock you, how about corkscrews, those are darn dangerous.

Oh, the nightmares! I am *so* with you on that. It actually happened to a colleague of mine a few years back. She was on a round-robin training trip, scheduled to do 3 sites over a week in rural Arkansas. Of course, she couldn't get her rental car, and the company ended up having to pay for a cab and driver to take her to her training sites. It was several hundred miles, with the meters ticking all the way.

I actually use my (plain) hopper-pass lanyard in airports to hold my license, that way I'm not worried about losing the thing. I just wear it facing inward, and then I take it off and carefully put everything away once I'm in my seat.

The airlines actually *will* normally let you board a domestic flight without photo ID, though they give you hell going through security if you have to do it.

Oh my kids could tell you a great story about the time I thought I lost my license. I was nothing short of hysterical. I had them looking all over the place. I called Hertz to ask what would happen if I didn't have my license. My kids kept asking if it was on my desk. I of course stated time and time again that it wasn't. Well guess where I found the license several hours later?????

I fly out of Logan on the 16th to WDW (Jet Blue, I can't wait to try it!) and i am not nervous at all. I flew out of Logan less then a month after 9/11 to O'Hare, I flew into a National Security Event, the SLC Olymics, from Logan, and have flown countless times since then. I never liked flying before and I still don't like it but it has nothing to do with terrorists, they are WAY down the bottom of the list.
I would much rather be on a plane taking off from Logan than sitting on the Expressway or 128 in traffic.
