Territory lounge?

This was one of our favorite "finds" when we were there in August.

The prices were reasonable and DH got to watch sports which made him happy. It was a relaxing ending to a busy day.

Uncleromulus-

I think you mean cherry wheat, which is my absolute favorite Sam Adams beer. They even have a recipie for Cherry Wheat chicken on the sam adams website - a crowd pleaser for sure.

All-

Back to the territory lounge, has anyone ever ordered the wings there? The last time we were there, my BIL and I ordered them, and the server asked hot or mild? We (kind of obnoxiously, I add) answered, "Hot, of course, what do we look like, a couple of girls?" (We had been teasing / joking with this server all night - it was all in fun)

He replied "OK, sorry to offend you, hot it is!"

The wings that came out were the absolute hottest wings I have ever had - and I love hot food. They were hot to the point that they were difficult to eat. It was only our pride (and fear of humiliation) that made us finish them.

Just as a point of reference, at HHI, we go to the wild wing cafe about 3 times per stay, and ALWAYS get either their Braveheart or China Syndrome wings - their hottest. Those we eat no problem at all, but these territory lounge wings were unbearably hot.

To this day, we believe that the waiter specifically asked the kitchen to hot them up, and I was just wondering if anyone else had sampled these wings and could offer some comparison.

Thanks!

I guess they might have "hotted" them up for you - hey, you asked for it ;) To me, the hot is just about right, it does have a bite to them and some heat, but not so bad that you cry. Not a habenero sort of burn or anything. But hot.

Uncleromulus you are right the honey wheat is michelob. It is pretty good. I like the red hook OK. There are so many beers that they could have there that fit the western theme. I know what you are saying about wheat beer. Wouldn't a sierra nevada wheat be perfect there? If they can have that "coral reef lager" microbrewed and labeled for coral reef, then why not a wheat at wilderness lodge? And you know, they don't always have the wheat at big river, it is seasonal there. And it is a little bit more bitter there than at other big river/rock bottoms I've been to - it has a nice banana-y and clover flaver, but a bit bitter at the end. Also, they had some sort of hefewiezen at the crews cup at yacht club, more of a weis beer iirc.

I would love to see one or two better beers at territory lounge. How hard would it be to stick a case of sierra nevada in the cooler? We should start a right in campaign.

Msdis - make sure your dh asks about the cheese on that burger - a while back I had one that had like "nacho cheese sauce" on it, and it wasn't my favorite - also don't forget roaring forks for a quick burger - you can hop right outside to the outdoor seating.

You're absolutely right--I did mean Cherry Wheat!! Must have confused it with Pete's Strawberry Blonde.

I only wish many of WDW reatuatrants and lounges would pump up their beer offerings. But I fear it's a losing battle, as the overwhelming demand is for Bud, Coors, etc.. For example--at Jikos they used to have Safari Amber on dfaft. I liked it. BUt then it went away. Our server told me that hardly anyone ordered it, plus which they wanted to use that bar space to store more wine.

Thanks for the cheese tip. DH is not a big cheese fan and nacho type cheese is even worse.
Yes, we love to eat at roaring forks and usually do for most of the trip. I love their daily specials, esp. friday which I am already sad because we leave friday am.DH hates it because I LOVE to feed the birds:rolleyes: even though there are so many signs not to. They are so cute.

Are the wings whole wings or the buffalo type that's all white meat, boneless, skinless? Those are sounding good too!

As of July

Florida is the latest state to enact an aggressive clean air law, aimed at protecting people from dangers associated with secondhand smoke. The new law became effective July 1 and includes sweeping changes including a total ban on smoking in restaurants and bars where more than “incidental” food is served.

As expected, the majority of the debate and press on this issue has been devoted to its impact on restaurateurs and bar owners. However, this new law reaches beyond your local watering hole and creates matters of immediate concern for condominiums, cooperatives, and homeowners’ associations.

The old Act prohibited smoking in any enclosed common areas such as hallways, lobbies, or elevators. The new Act expands this prohibition to include smoking in any “enclosed indoor workplace.” While this obviously bans smoking in your association’s management office, the act includes any place where one or more persons engages in work, and which place is predominantly or totally bounded by physical barriers.

I believe TL may not be covered because all they sell is" incidental food"

:(
Please don't feed the birds.
I know they are gosh-darn cute, but in the south we have a real health problem with histoplasmosis ( sp?)
This is a deblitating and deadly disease in humans. Also, feeding the birds teaches the birds to annoy others and steal food from peoples hands or plate.
It also means you are sending these cute critters to an early death. People food is not good for any wild animal.

PS: If you really enjoy feeding the birds, why not go to the end of the WL boat dock, there are bird food machines there :D
