We just got back Friday...I wanted to let everyone know how wonderful the American Idol Experience attraction was. My dd, 15, was lucky enough to make it to the stage..she had a terrific time. My point is that the CMs in this attraction were all so terrific. They made a somewhat stressful time so much fun. We really had no idea how it would all work and were a bit nervous about it. But, in the end, everyone, from the CMs looking for people to audition out in the parks to the judges onstage, was great and fun to work with.
I know there have been some questions as to how it all works and what various experiences have been like, so figured I would let you all know that my dd's experience was so positive she is going to try it again in August!!

I have a question - what did she wear? I'm not sure if I should bring a nice shirt/pants for DBF to wear if he gets on.... or did most people just wear park wear?

That's great!. i saw all you have to do to after your picked..that's a full day of stuff...glad it was a positive experience. Can't wait to see the show :)

Are they having difficulty getting people to audition? I know you can register online a head of time. I'd like to try it just for fun to see what is it like. I sing in my choir at church but I'm not an Idol! LOL!

we went to DHS a few saturdays ago, and there was a CM in the front of the park asking if anyone wanted to audition....that was about 30 minutes after park opening.

My son tried out in March, with an audition we set up online. They told us then that they weren't having any trouble getting people to try out (although it was a very busy week at the park). They said they get about 200-300 people trying out per day, which means that 10% of the auditioners get onto the stage (congrats on your daughter! my son performed also, would love to do it again). I agree -- the CMs were terrific -- very encouraging. My son LOVED the vocal coach that helped him with stage movement.

As for what to wear -- he planned out what he was going to wear (a Muddy Waters t-shirt and his favorite overshirt, and his shades); the 16 year old girl who won wore a plain white tshirt and denim crops -- not sure if she planned it or if it was what she just wore that day -- and the other contestant was a grandma whose grandkids talked her into it, she was definitely in her park clothes. Unless you are really into this, not sure it makes any difference!
