Hi all...

I'm trying to get my head around all of this DVC stuff (and driving my hubby NUTS in the meantime as he doesn't really understand it)...

Can someone explain what y'all mean by the 'OKW Extension'? I was reading some older posts and caught something about it not being able to be used for something like 34 years??? What gives??

Thanks in advance!

Soupy

Well, I am not an OKW expert, but I will take a shot.

Up until recently, all the OKW contracts expired in 2042.

Recently, Disney has offered an extension to the OKW contracts that will allow owners to extend their contracts additional years.

OK, I was able to find the extension term. So if an owner purchases the extension, it changes their contract by 15 years. So instead of expiring in 2042, it will expire in 2057.

Donald is correct , you can purchase another 15 years to extend your existing contract.

Essencially, that means you are paying for an extension to the OKW contract for an extra 15 years, but since it doesn't start until 2042, some of us don't feel it's a good value.

Some of us are as old as dirt, so we will be dead by 2042, and don't feel like burdening our children with the dues on a contract they might not want.;)
