Teresa's DW Vacation Quest

Understood. I had remembered reading that on another site. It still shows it as accurate information but I will certainly take your word for it. I know that the rules often change and they may not have updated. Thanks!

Ahhhh! That page refers to the family suites at ASmu which sleep 6, they usually price out to be more than 2 regular rooms, but a good code could bring the price down to less than 2 rooms.

The 5 in the room sure does seem like the most limiting factor. I can't wait to see what you come up with Theresa!

Just another quick tip for you Teresa -

when you buy your park tickets DON'T get park hoppers - you'll save a little more $ that way

then hopefully the kids can eat 2 meals a day :goodvibes

That's another $250 in the bank if they don't park hop, correct? ($50 per ticket X's 5 tickets =$250)

Question: Teresa has mentioned on the podcast that she's talking with a DU agent to plan this challenge. Then the idea came up to have the agent come on the podcast and talk.

If Teresa is supposed to do this like any regular person planning a WDW vacation, shouldn't she be conversing with her agent by email only?

Yes, but it would be hard to show the listeners an e-mail.

We are just emailing back and forth. I think Dan would just call into the show to talk about the planning process and probably what a pain I am. This challenge is harder than I thought it would be. In real life I'd be selling off my kids toys to get more money for the trip. (just kidding) Or ditch the kids with Aunt Brenda and go alone( again, just kidding).

You'd leave your DH at home instead of the kids....:goodvibes

Teresa,

Have you signed up your family for GAD yet? One free park day really adds up with 5. DH and I just completed our service!

Question from the podcast, the $2300 offer discussed for POR, was that for two rooms or was it assuming 5 in a room with a trundle, etc? Thanks!

Cool. Thanks for clearing that up. Carry on...

This depends on your TA. Dan is also my DU TA. Dan has given me his phone number before. I haven never needed it though so I have never called him. I was lucky enough to meet him on the Podcast Cruise last May. :goodvibes

If I were Teresa (or is it Theresa? Sorry if that's wrong...), I'd have played the family card and turned all this over to my BIL ages ago. What's the point of having Pete for a BIL if you can't use him to book a Disney vacation? :confused3 ;)

I booked through DU once and got a number. They do talk to people on the phone. One day I'll tell my "I talked to a DU person on the phone" story. :)

I know everybody plans differently. I know once I have a budget for my vacation some things don't count towards my trip.

I live in NC and we Drive so that's 10 hours away. If you have a large family Flying is just way to expensive and once I get there I have my own car.

Things that I never count toward my Vacation budget.

1. The First Tank of Gas. I always make sure I'm fully gassed when I get ready to leave. And the Tank at the end when I get home. dosn't count.

2. Box of Snacks and Groceries for the Drive down. Chips, Crackers, Cheese, jerky, etc. There will be stuff left for the room and maybe even on the way back.

3. We Always get enough slim-fast Breakfast Bars for every morning of the Trip. The kind with the 4 hour appetite suppressant for the Vacation. They are purchased far in front of the Vacation and Go on the grocery budget and not the vacation budget.

4. New Ponchos from the dollar store. they come in packs of 2 and I get a pack per person.

5. New Batteries for the cameras.

A Few Tips.

1. it's cheaper to add days and waist a ticket for a few hours in a park than getting Park hopper most of the time. For example a 6 day ticket is 231 per. For 12 bucks more you can get 4 more tickets and just blow a ticket if you want to "Hop" to another park. it's 283 to get 6 day Park Hopper.

2. Instant Oatmeal, and Breakfast Bars are perfect for a Hotel Room. No Refridge needed and Cheap.

3. even at 3 bucks a 2 liter at the resort. 2 liters are cheaper than Resort Mugs.

4. The Counter lunch Dining plan is a good value if You scope out the menus ahead of time. For example at Cosmic Ray you can get the Half Chicken w/ Half rack of Rib dinner for 1 Credit. Enough food for 2. Spliting is easy on the Counter credits.

5. Take the Buses. You can blow a tank of Gas at WDW driving around for the week.

August, right before school starts will come out cheaper than June. If free dining is offered she'll be fine. The real challange is saving even more so that there's money for her to keep.

If Stella's willing to sleep on the small trundle at POR, and she could figure out how to not make it weird Max and Grace. (Kelvin could sleep with Max perhaps?, Teresa with Grace?)

If she wants more room for them she'll have to spend more. ASMu family suite, FW Cabin or 2 value rooms. I have in the past priced them out, it really depends on your dates and what the current promotional code is out. Sometimes they'll be a really great code on the values, other times the cabins come out cheaper.

I stayed at a Dreams Villa earlier this month. It was fab. But I think part of the challenge was to stay on property. It does add some magic.

Heck with that. Stick Max on the trundle. Grace and Stella can share.

We stayed at POR a couple of years ago!
there were 3 adults, 1 junior, and 1 child in our party.
One of the adults slept on the trundle and it was comfortable, or so he said.
So it is a very good option for teresa to consider, and she could put max on the trundle. :thumbsup2

Also if you don't get a water view room the price is cheaper, so if you are going to inquire about POR then make sure it is not a water view room.

Isn't that against the rules of the Magic Your Way tickets? They're only good for one Theme Park per day (unless you add the park hopper).
