Quick question about Teppanyaki, my DH picked this restaurant :p , I just want to know what I am in for. Is this a restaurant where you sit with groups of people? Any other details I should know?

Thanks!

We love this one! You will sit with other people, but it's around 3 sides of the table--not really conducive to conversation between parties. Have you ever been to a Benihana's or something similar?--That's what it is like. They cook the food at your table (sort of like a little show) and everything we have had has been excellent. Enjoy!! :goodvibes

I like this restaurant alot too, but my family loves Japanese Habatchi Steakhouses, we go quite a bit when we're home. They do the same schtik that most hibachi restaurants do, but it's fun. If you have a party of 8, you probally will get your own table. The food is good, it's actually pretty basic (steak, chicken, shrimp, some kind of fish) but they cook it on the grill in front of you and usually add bean sprouts and veggies. Ask for the chopsticks with the spring action if you don't know how to use chopsticks, they will rig up the chopsticks so you can easily use them (you can also use a fork and knife if you want to). Here is a write up and menu : http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/dining/menuoutput.cfm Enjoy!! :thewave:

We have been there several times and have never had a conversation with any of the other families at our table. We generally talk amoung ourselves or to the chef. It is quick enough that we are distracted by the cooking and eating so we don't have to talk that much.

My bf and I have been several times- we never feel awkward sitting w/strangers. Actually we've always been seated w/really nice families.

Thanks everyone! It sounds just like the Hibachi Japanese Steakhouses we have out here. I think I know what I'm in for now, we go to the one here at home quite often,

Thanks again! :flower:

You sit with other people (unless you have a party of 8, of course). One issue that can cause is a little extra waiting, if the table needs to "fill up."

We are a family of 5 and were seated with a couple that were probably in their mid 40s. Even though our kids were quite well behaved, we could tell that they did NOT like being seated with us. We not only didn't talk, I don't know if we even made eye contact. They ate as fast as they possibly could, then left.

DH and I have been wanting to try this as we love our Kanpai of Tokyo here. However, we are worried we will not like it as much since they do not have fried rice. Has anyone had that experience?

My DH & I were seated with a family of 5 there last week. The kids were young teens and very well behaved. The family was friendly, we all chatted a bit and the chef talked to us all. We thought the food was very fresh and delicious. A bit pricey, but I felt like we had a healthy meal. We are glad we chose to eat there, no regrets. Have fun :flower: :flower: :flower:

We eat there pretty much every trip. I don't think the quality is as good as it used to be. More times than not we have great table mates, have never really had bad just not too talkative. It seems like people will open up a bit more when they are out of their element. I think you will enjoy it.
