Teppanyaki in Japan renovations through September

Anyone have a good option for a change. my dad likes shows, and this was planned for him, and the fact that I love the food.
We have planned for other meals
Ohanas-Breakfast and Dinner
Hollywood & Vine-Fantasmic Package Dinner
CRT-Breakfast
Crystal Palace-Dinner
Donald's-Breakfast
Garden Grill-Dinner
Princess Storybook-Dinner
Liberty Tree-Dinner
Cape May- Breakfast
Chef Mickey's- Lunch

The German restaurant, Biergarten, has a fun oompah band show. Restaurant Marrakesh in Morocco has a Moroccan band and belly dancer. Sna Angel Inn at Mexico doesn't have a show, but the interior of the restaurant is almost a show in itself- it looks like you are at an outdoor cafe at twilight, with a volcano in the background, and a river flowing next to the tables.

Well, I just got off the phone with disney dining and the reservation for Sept 24 that was given to me was cancelled due to renovations not being completed!! I still have Sept 27 for lunch and that hasn't been cancelled - I was told the restaurant is contacting people directly to cancel.

Rats!

Thank goodness I was reading this today. I just got off the phone with a CM. She actually argued with me for a few minutes before looking it up to see that my reservations for 8/30 won't work. We have a grand gathering of 12, so I was worried about getting any kind of replacement reservations. Who knows when they'd think about letting me know?

Anyway, we are now at the 9 dragons. I know that it won't be as good as the Teppenaki, but I'm just thankful to have ressies. All of us will be disappointed as Teppenaki was one of our favorites.

SERIOUSLY! Why aren't they calling people to let them know about this!?!?! Think of all the poor people who are connected with the DIS. They will just show up and be totally disappointed. It wouldn't take them all that long to just make the proper phone calls and let people know.

I just called to make a back-up ADR at San Angel Inn on the same night as our Teppan Edo. I sure don't want to be stuck with nothing...but I really hope that we get to try Teppan Edo. DH was most excited about this!

UUUGH!!!!!

How CRAZY that during Free dining DISNEY has not contacted people KNOWING how difficult it is to get ANYWHERE without a reservation that they force us to make 180 days out!!!! (thanks for allowing the rant!)

I just called to make a new reservation, NO San Angel Inn
NO le Cellier, so
NO RESERVATION!!!!!!
Will be calling them back after I TRY and find atleast 2 alternative choices and HOPE for a reservation we'll actually want!

The CM at first said, Oh, I'm sure they'll honor your reservation and I was like WHAT?? The restaurant will be closed and THEN she looks it up and says, Oh, You're right, well they should have called you, we do try! Well they didn't try and I got NO call.

Onion volcanoes?

Where they stack he big rings of onions on top from largest to smallest, making a volcano shape. Then they pour oil in the middle & light her up! The flames shoot out the top.

The first time we did hibachi with my daughter, the volcano startled her so badly that she almost flipped her chair over backwards. I should have warned her what was coming. We were the first table seated for dinner, so she didn't have the advantage of watching from afar first.

Oh, Man! My DH is gonna be SO UPSET...he's having an horrible day at work and this just might be the topper on the day. He loves this type of dining experince and it was our anniversary meal. I'm really upset that we haven't been contacted. I know that there must be tons of people to contact, but this was suppose to be special for him for our anniversary. Bummer, I hope we find something else that will make him just as happy.

Thanks to the Dis Boards AGAIN! I just called and my res. is cancelled. I was able to make one for 4 at 8pm at 9 Dragons. Disappointed at first, but it would have been worse if I had waited for Diney to notify me

We got ressies for 9 Dragons too...I'm bummed, so is my DH. Not happy at all...the CM said "oh, they haven't called you yet! They still will and might be able to give you some other options." What does that mean? I'm not getting my hopes up or my DH's. I was hoping to get him Le Cellier, but nada...he's not gonna be happy...doesn't bother me, food is food.

Thank GOODNESS for the DIS!! Otherwise most of us would never have known about the new Teppanyaki opening being delayed! I just called to change the ressie - figuring I'd have mega trouble getting someplace b/c my trip is only 4 weeks away! I was sooooo lucky - managed to get a late lunch ressie at Whispering Canyon for the day I had the Japan ADR, and I was also able to get one for dinner at the Cape May Cafe for the other night we didn't have a res for! I'm psyched Just to be safe I had picked out about 6 choices, figuring eventually I'd hit it right, but landed my second & third choices! (Of course, LeCellier was my first choice but I knew that was just a pipe dream!! Figured it was worth a try, tho! )

GRRRRRR.... I have 8/29 ressies there and didn't realize that they were extending the closure!! The DIS menu doesn't even say this. I will have to call tomorrow and pray I can get a replacement!

Anyhoo....they gave us the chinese place too, but after checking the menu, a no go...was able to get San Angel for LATE lunch @ 4, (Teppan was 4:45) so, I'm satisfied.
WHAT I AM ANNOYED ABOUT...is the idea that Disney has not updated their site, not called the ADR people, ESPECIALLY those on the dining plan. I have read MANY times that said CM said they will be calling (same thing I was told, I don't buy it for a sec. I never got a call and leave shortly....REALLY BAD HANDLING ON THEIR PART, SHAME ON THEM.
We all realize that renovations go late (HELLO< many people visiting Disney have homes and realize..delays happen...but to ignore it knowing how difficult it is to even get an ADR,

I am sooo mad! I called Disney today to add a person to my August 28th Teppanyaki reservation, we are now a party of 8, and they let me!!! I came on the dining boards tonight because I was having trouble adding to my Whispering Canyon reservation... and the recent Teppanyaki posts caught my eye. I literally got off the phone with them less than an hour ago, and I called TWICE!!! It is going to be impossible to find dining for 8 with 3 weeks notice! I called back after reading this thread but of course they were closed. Now I am having trouble with 2 of my 5 reservations! ugh!

Do you like German or Chinese....? Oh and I'm laughing with you, not at you. It took the CM nearly 20 minutes to "search the world" for a dining replacement for my party of 6, and that's what my choices were....there are options at 9p, but that's just not feasible for me....

That is craziness! Wow...there have been a lot of hiccups lately with Disney, or maybe these happen all the time and this time it is just effecting me We've never had these types of problems before. Granted, these aren't life altering problems, but still upsetting.

So, is 9 Dragons not good? I knew my DH would not to German.

Just as an FYI - I have talked with Disney Dining almost everyday since they extended the refurbishment on this as I have adrs on 9/22 and 9/27. Knowing that it will be next to impossible to seat my fam of 5 anywhere during free dining this late in the game I wanted to ask them what they chances are that it will be extended again. I have talked with several different cast members and here is what I found out. as of RIGHT NOW it is scheduled to reopen on 9/16, HOWEVER the delay was due to a permit issue. They think that all has been resolved and that they are back on track, BUT the last CM that I spoke to said that I would be better off having a back up plan as there is a good possibility that they will extend it again for at least another week. She offered me pretty much the same stuff as the abover, Biergarten, Nine Dragons, Chef de france thats about it. Told her that I would look at the menus ( while I kept her on the phone) and no way 4 out of 5 members of my family are going to eat anything off of those menus. I ended up just taking an adr for a night that we don't currently have one so that I have somewhere to use the TS credit in the event that teppan edo is not open when we get there. Whole family is dissapointed that its a possibility since Spaceship earth, Rock n roller coaster ect are going to be closed while we are there too. It just sucks.

The CM did say that if you had an ADR for ANY restaurant that ended up being clossed that they HAVE to find you an ADR somewhere. That is no consolation to me as it doesn't necessarily mean that it has to be somewhere that I will or want to eat. They only have to offer you something and its up to you whether you take it or not. I did tell them that I didn't think this was very fair considering I made these adr's 180 days out and that it was a month past when they were expected to open so I didn't feel that they would be in jeopardy. She still states that they will find you somewhere to eat so you don't lose a TS credit, but again it may or not be what you want.

I booked the Flying Fish at 8:30. We'll wind up paying OOP for one of our other meals since it's a Signature meal but at least I have a plan again.

Plus I hear the Flying Fish is wonderful and I guess i can walk there from Epcot
