Teppanyaki in Japan renovations through September

I can't see them sending a letter to everyone since they don't ask for your address when you make an ADR? At most I'd expect a call but who knows.

We had an ADR for dinner on 8/22. We weren't contacted, but I called and got San Angel Inn instead for that night.

Okay, I just got off the phone with WDW and asked about my Teppanyaki reservation. She told me that Teppanyaki was not reopening until 9/15, but checked my ADR number and said my reservation was for Teppan Edo and still held. She understood that these were basically the same place and checked for updates and said so far there were none and my reservation was still in tact. I am soooo confused!

We have a reservation for Sept. 17th at Teppanyaki. I called this morning to make sure it was OK and she said that it was. It should be re-opened by then.

I asked the CM why I hadn't been notified. He said that they'd only gotten the memo about this yesterday or the day before. He said that he wasn't sure how Disney would be handling it. I suspect I'd have gotten a letter in the next day or two, letting me know. I got a letter 2 weeks ago telling me that my Disney Resort Pool will be closed while we're there.

What???

I am panicking again!!! What resort are you going to stay in??

Did they give you the possibility of changing resorts? Or do you have just to stay there without a pool?

Sorry, I just saw you are staying at All Sports. But, have they offered you some way of sorting out the pool thing?

I just called and as my ressie was Saturday september 1st there were very few dining options left at a reasonable time. The CM helped me to find somewhere, and I thought we would try Boatwrights since we are staying at POR. I dont think they are calling everyone, maybe they will tell others when they check into the resort, by hich time it will be very tricky to find a restaurant that is not booked solid.

I had reservation for August 30th at 6:45pm and never got a phone call or letter. I called yesterday because I read about the closing here and it was confirmed that it won't open until Sept 15th. I was so upset! 30 days away and no notice. Well they told me they had openings in France, Italy, Mexico and China - I'm not a fan of either one of those (specially Italy and Mexico) so I was luckily able to get a reservation for 2 at 7:05 at Coral Reef....my first choice would have been LeCellier but no way was I getting that lucky!

I'll be at All Star Sports in mid-September. One of the pools, the main "surfer" themed pool is closed for renovations. There is another pool or we can go over to All Star Music to swim. It totally sucks and they won't move me.

I called yesterday and even the CM was surprised. She said the memo had just been put on the reservation.

So she did not cancel Teppanedo, but made me a new one so that I would have a back up. Most likely it will not be open??? We will be there on Sept 8.

I was able to reserve Chefs de France. I think France is very pretty in the World showcase so it will be ok. I was able to get a 6:50 ADR so there are still places out there.
The menu looks good and we have never eaten there before.

Still I am bummed out. My DD loves shrimp and would have love Teppanedo.

I had to reserve something after all it is my Birthday dinner!!!!

I called after reading this thread last night. I was able to get WCC. She said that at first they were told it would not be open until the end of October and yesterday were told it would be mid september, she told me not to cancel my adr for Teppan Edo just in case it did open up. So that is what I did.

It is possible that there is also a little confusion about which restaurant is which. At the moment we have Mitsukoshi Teppanyaki, Tempura Kiku and Matsunoma Lounge in that space. Teppanyaki is changing it's name to Teppan Edo, but for all intents and purposes is staying as a Teppan place (cooking in front of you) The Tempura Kiku and Matsunoma Lounge are becoming one place to be called Tokyo Dining. I have no idea if this is a CS or a TS, I would imagine it's a CS. Now the opening date for the new Tokyo Dining is still up in the air, Teppan Edo is supposed to be up and running at the end of August (though it does look as if that has been pushed back to Sept) Tokyo Dining isn't said to be ready until the end of October, which may be why the confusion of dates. I don't know how the CM's keep it all straight.

If you are looking for Teppan Edo in Sept/Oct, probably wise to have a back up plan. Mine is as simple as strolling around the food & wine booths.

By the way, my phone number is tied to my reservation number, which is in turn tied to my personal details. They have at least three ways of getting in touch with me (email, phone and address) I actually ordered tickets for the MNSSHP, and not once did they ask for my address. Realizing this afterwards, I phoned back in panic, and was told that they most definitely had my address on file! My tickets arrived a few days later. That Mouse is sneakier than you realize!

I just called and asked...got the opening date of Sept 15 also. We have an ADR for Sept 15....I'm crossing my fingers hoping that it works out.

I just called 6:00pm EST today and they just told me I couldn't make a reservation on the 15th (our last night, flighing out am)! The CM said renovations are through the 15th. When did they let you make yours?

I just found out a few minutes ago that my reservation is on the 11th is no longer good from my sister reading it on these boards !! While I know to a average person, I am overreacting... but I'm mad- I was really looking forward to this and we are also a party of 7!! What to do now?

I hate to say it, but Disney is going to have a lot of PO'd people when they walk up to nothing!! Not to mention during free dining when you'd have to sell your first born for an ADR!!
