Teppanyaki in Japan renovations through September

Called the 800 number today (thanks DIS!!) and changed our ressies for Friday Sept 28. It's our last night there, so there are pluses and minuses. The biggest minus being that the kids are going to be disappointed, as they really really love eating in Japan.

We ended up with Coral Reef at 6:00 (FYI, they also had slots at 4:30). The downside...there are 9 of us, and we had to do 2 tables. The upside...we got the VIP passes for illuminations that night (for the spot between UK and Canada) without even asking :thumbsup2 And, hey, it's CORAL REEF!

The CM was super duper helpful, and willing to look into pretty much anything we wanted. LeCellier (his suggestion) was full for that night (at least in looking for 9 people), which is fine because I really think the kids will enjoy CR more ;)

CM also confirmed that the newest date is mid-October.

I called this morning, too, and had such a SUPER CM. She was so friendly and helpful. She was going to get me into Coral Reef for dinner with no problem at all (she gave me several time choices even), but she noticed that I had "dive banner" on my ressie. (I still haven't figured out for sure how that happened. I had left a message for Debbie a couple of months ago, but never got a return call. Maybe she just went ahead and tacked it on our ressie? I didn't even say anything about what it should say or anything though?)

Anyway, we didn't move the late lunch to dinner b/c of the dive banner, but the CM was so awesome. I have been trying to get that switched to dinner since I originally booked the lunch a couple of months ago, and nothing is ever available when I call multiple times per week. She offerred me three or four time choices on my first choice night, and that was even on a different date from my Teppan Edo ressie!

She also offerred us the VIP Illuminations viewing. HOORAY! :cool1:  :yay: She said there would be two areas for the viewing - hopefully that will lessen the crowds others are worried about?

I am so happy with the way Disney has handled this for us. DH really wanted to eat there, but then he came up with Boma as a great place to try as we haven't visited AKL before. SO, it should turn out just fine and we can try Teppan Edo next time!

Here is the link that says that they are pushing the opening date to Oct. 15

Wasn't there another site reporting it wouldn't reopen until November? We have ADRs for 10/25 and I'm wondering if I should book a second ADR for that night. I'd cancel one as soon as I knew if Teppan Edo would be open.

Also, will Teppan Edo have a similar menu to Teppanyaki?

Thanks for any info!!

I have a ADR for the night before you (10/24) I called the 1-800 number and spoke to a helpful CM. She checked my reservation, then went and asked a manager. Basically at this time they expect to have it open by then. She did say there was always a possibility that it wouldn't be, but they were only dealing with the folk up to 10/15. If that was to change I would get a call. So I am currently just waiting and seeing.

At present it is just that one site, all the others seem to have it at 10/15.

I find it very interesting that Disney has called peeps with Sept ressies! Mine was 8/29 and I never recd a call or email despite the fact that I have home and cell number listed on my ressie.:confused3 Anywho I called regular dining number today as I had not heard about the special phone line and was actually transferred to that phone line. I asked about the VIP Illuminations and she said while I am at dinner at Le Cellier ( :yay: ) they will give me a "letter" with information of where to go. She also gave me a seperate ressie # from the dinner #. I am so excited, can't you tell?? :dance3: :cheer2:
