I called Disney Dining to adjust some reservations today and they told me that the renovations to Teppanyaki (Teppan Edo) were taking longer than expected. They weren't going to be complete mid to late August as expected. My reservations were cancelled for mid-September, as are every one else's. I spent more than a few minutes on the phone with the CM trying to figure out where else in Epcot to dine at that time, on that night. They did still have some availability for a party of 3 at every stop along the WOrld Showcase. If you were planning to dine at Teppanyaki, you'd better start working on your back up plan now before they're all snatched up.

It is definitely true. We had ressies for 9/6 and I had to change to another restaurant. Tried Concourse and Boma for something different, Concourse had no seating for 2 until 9:20pm and Boma had nothing until 8:15pm. Ended up with Cape May. Call now to make your changes.

Thank you so much for posting this, we have ressies there for 8/27. I made a back up for Spoodles just in case. This was the one place my ds really wanted to try. I am sad for him.

Had a ressie for 9/13 also told had to move and ended up at Biergarten.... *sigh* hope it is good but not one i will be looking forward too greatly.

IMO its not that great. If DH is a huge fan of the Japanese steakhouse type of places, try Kobe. Its off-site but is one of my fav Japanese steakhouses.

:sad2: I love Japanese food, especially the noodles they serve with dinner at Teppanyaki. Guess I'll be visiting the CS for udon to satisy my craving. I made an 8:40 dinner ADR at Liberty Tree in MK, because I didn't want to eat in France or Germany, and already have Le Cellier for the first night. If anyone is cancelling an earlier Liberty Tree for 9/10, please let me know.

do you think I am still safe with my September 29th ressie?

Oh man, DH is most excited about eating here. I am also interested in learning more about when they might reopen. Just saw this thread so I will call in the a.m., but I am hoping someone can fill us in tonight. My ADR is for 9/28.

They really screwed us with this. My aunt set up a reservation for here 180 days out for TWENTY FIVE PEOPLE on Sept 3. Now I guess we just can't have a sit down meal all together that day because there is no way we are going to find a place with 25 open spots this late.

There really is no excuse for not giving us this information sooner. I can live with it being canceled, stuff happens, but we got cheated out of a large family sit down meal because of someone's incompetence. I hope whoever it was lost their job over this.:headache:

I just got off the phone with wdw-dine, and they said that all renovations are expected to be finished by 9/15. We have ADRs on 9/25, and that is cutting it sooo close. I may just be calling back and making back up ADRs somewhere else, just in case.

I am so upset about this. First of all I really wanted to eat there, but 2nd now it is too late to get and ADR for a party of 6 ANYWHERE!!!! So what am I supposed to do? This is ridiculous! And if I hadn't been reading the boards, then what? I would have just shown up at my ADR????

I just called and asked...got the opening date of Sept 15 also. We have an ADR for Sept 15....I'm crossing my fingers hoping that it works out. :)

Just wanted to say thanks for posting this info. I had a reservation for Teppanyaki on the 13th September and have now changed it to Chef Mickeys!(Woo Hoo! The only better option would have been Le Cellier). The time is not suitable for everyone but since we are all adults 9.10pm suits us perfectly. Thanks again.

That was the same night as our reservations. Le Cellier was booked and we're doing the Concourse Steakhouse earlier in the week, so we went with Marrakesh for the new reservations. Luckily for us, we're a party of three. We had lots of options in the World Showcase, in plenty of time for fireworks!!

Have ressies for 8/30 & no phone call yet :confused3

I did make a back up (thanks for this thread!).

There's always Benihanna at the Hilton & Kobe as previously suggested.

:wizard: We have an ADR for August 21st and haven't bee notified :confused3

I just found out in the forum about the disaster with my 8/31 reservation at Tepanyaki.

Disney never contacted me.

I phoned as soon as I found about it thinking that if I got reservations it would be somewhere where no one goes and at a VERY LATE time.

Well, I called and ask the CM to check Chef Mickey just in case thinking there was no way I was going to get it.

I got it at 17.20!!!!!

So, everybody, try and change your reservations and maybe you'll be as lucky as I have just been

I asked the CM why I hadn't been notified. He said that they'd only gotten the memo about this yesterday or the day before. He said that he wasn't sure how Disney would be handling it. I suspect I'd have gotten a letter in the next day or two, letting me know. I got a letter 2 weeks ago telling me that my Disney Resort Pool will be closed while we're there.
