I am confused. So is this the "updated" benihanna style place? And have they just combined the 2 restaurants that used to be upstairs or are there still 2 choices?

BUMP- I am interested in Teppan Edo also! Has anyone been?? And was it a GOOD experience?? Thanks, Joan

The three restaurants in Japan are now two. Teppan Edo is virtually the same as Teppanyaki. The grills have been updated and there is a wider "lip" for your plates and a smaller grill surface. It is much safer for children now, but there is no room to keep your saki warm. The food was pretty much the same as it was last year under the old name.

Tokyo Dining combines the old sushi bar area with the old cocktail lounge and has opened everything up. It is modern, trendy and quite loud. I did not eat there, so I can't say anything about the food.

I am curious as well. I booked reservations for it for when we go in February, but I am confused. I think the restaurant has two sides, one Japanese/sushi and the other habachi. When I booked the CM said we have banquet style table, which doesn't sound like we are in the habachi side... which is what the kids wanted. I don't know...

I am guessing that by Banquet style I think they mean you will be sitting with other people at the grill.

I bet that's what they meant too. Each table seats 8 people around a large grill. Also, the grill is not a "hibachi" type grill with slats over a heat source. The grill is large and flat like one at McDonarld's to grill the hamburgers.

Ahhh, thank you java and robinb. That's perfect as my kiddos really wanted that style.

You summed it up pretty well.

Teppan Edo - seating around a grill, Benihana style
Tokyo Dining - basic table service, Japanese restaurant for sushi and tempura.

I had sushi at Tokyo Dining in October, about the time they first opened. I found it very tasty. :goodvibes

In the Tokyo Dining restaurant - do they pipe the music in from Illuminations and do you have a good view of the show?
