We're trying to pick a TS for arrival day. My kids are young but very good in restaurants (we always get comments on their good behavior.)

Originally we thought we'd like to try Chefs de France. I just read Remy is there before 6. I guess we could try for a 5pm ADR if we go there to make it more appealing to the kids.

The food at Teppan Edo looks delicious! I'm just concerned we'll get stuck sitting with people who don't like kids. And my DH and I aren 't great conversationalists.

Where would you pick?

We were just at Teppan Edo last Monday :sad1: and really enjoyed it. The food was yummy and you must try the Tokyo Sunset drink yum! We're a family of 4 and got seated with 2 other older couples. We really didn't talk to them and vice versa. We just enjoyed the cooking show and being with our family. Never done Chefs but I do give Teppan Edo a :thumbsup2

Not really thrilled with either choice..dinner at Chefs was terrible and while the food at Teppan Edo is good the portions were smaller than what we are used to locally....I guess if I had to choose from the two it would be TE

We dined at both for the first time this past June. Our kids are 6 & 7. We had dinner at Teppan Edo and lunch with Remy at Chefs.
Remy was cute, kids enjoyed meeting him. But he is at your table for about 1-2 minutes. Our server was excellent. But we didn't enjoy the food at all. Glad we did it to meet the famous Rat, won't be hurrying back there anytime soon.
Teppan Edo was wonderful. The service was excellent. We sat with another family who was very nice. DH can make conversation with a door knob so no problems there. But honestly between ordering, the show where the chef prepares your meal, then eating...it's not like you are stuck for hours with strangers trying to make conversation.;) The food was excellent! It was the one meal both are kids requested for our next trip.

Awesome! I just showed DS4 (almost 5) pictures of food from both places. He liked the smoking volcano and the monorail dishes that the kids meals come on. Given the two choices, he picked TE too. Of course I didn't show him any pictures of Remy. :rolleyes1

My boys are 7 & 15, they were 6 & 14 when we went to these 2 restaurants last and they rathered Teppan Edo. I, personally, also rathered TE. Chefs was just OK, but not what we had anticipated.
If you go to TE don't forget to try the chocolate ginger cake, it was delicious!:thumbsup2

I'd also say TE. The entertainment factor of the meal is fun for the whole family, and I think the food is better than at Chefs. I think the service is better too, come to think of it, and the seating is more comfortable and spacious.

Don't worry about people not liking kids. They had our smaller kids sit on the far end of the table (I think because it's the most clear of the cooking surface), so if you do that you will be between the kids and any grumpy kid-haters. Since you sit more or less in a row, and it's kind of loud when the cooking is going on, you don't really end up conversing with the other party as much as you might expect.

Have fun, whichever you decide!

TE is fun and food is ok, but I'm annoyed they wouldn't take the "tables in wonderland" discount card either of the last 2 times we went. I spoke to the mgr and they were very non flexible. (they always have a new rule or excuse to deny your discount)
Service was fair at best.
We won't be going back.:guilty:

Teppan Edo!! Its awesome!! We like it so much...we are going twice on our next trip!!

We've dined at both. Although, we enjoyed both, we preferred Teppan Edo. :goodvibes

WOW! Guess I will be the rebel here. We did not enjoy Teppan Edo for several reasons:
1. I can get more food for better prices at any Japanese Steakhouse in town
2. Food was average, at best
3. Chef was average, at best
4. My kids (6,4,2) totally unimpressed.

Having said that, Chefs was the only restaurant we are doing again this year from last year's roster. LOVED IT! JUst thought I would offer a different point of view.

Yeah, usually have the rebel post just after me. Not before, but after...Well it's a wash the OP will have to decide for themselves. Our chef also happened to have worked at Benihanna..there are more than just 1 chef (Ken) maybe just maybe some are different and more experienced than the previous one....:rolleyes1

We just ate at TE last Friday. Yes, it is something you can do at home at your local Japanese steakhouse, but for us, it is something we normally don't do. Being on the dining plan made this a great option for us as cost was not a factor. Good food, nice service. The Chef played around with the kids and adults at the table and made it a nice experience for all of us.

He liked the smoking volcano and the monorail dishes that the kids meals come on.

Just a note so you don't have an unhappy child - if your kids order food to be prepared by the chef at your table, it does not come in a monorail plate. That is only if they order something off the menu that is prepared in the kitchen. My DS ordered the teriyaki chicken two years ago and got the monorail. Last year, he wanted to watch the chef cook his food, so he ordered from the teppanyaki menu and got a regular old plate. He was a bit disappointed, but we survived. The chef and his show more than made up for the plate!

Wow tough choice! We love them both. Have done Teppan just about every time we have gone to WDW and always a good meal and good time. Tried Chefs last year and it was as good as any meal we had all week. Going back to both later this month........Advice is if you can fit them both in do it! If not you win with either one you choose.

TE, go for it...kids will love it and do not worry about others and your kids....its DISNEY and kids are welcome and even enjoyed by most... Besides its YOUR vacation too, ENJOY it! They grow so fast, make the memory!!
We went with a group of 4 kids that REALLY loved it...its like a little show of cooking and so much fun, yummy but seriously SALTY and I actually got a bit sick from it....WAY too salty and I knew it right away...No one else was effected by this, but I am rather sensitive to the salt thing.....should have said something ahead of time.....my own fault...next time, I'd tell them..he used that salt shaker like water!!!!
