DD 2 has been to WDW 4 times and she has eaten in many different sit down restaurants. Next trip we hope to go to the Tepanyaki in Japan. She loves rice, chicken and veggies. I am sure I read somewhere that there are no highchairs there. This sounds odd to me for WDW.

Anyone know if it is true?

Thanks

::MickeyMo they have the regular wooden highchairs there. They do not have the highchairs that infants can sit in. We found that out the hard way when we tried to eat there last year. hope you have a great meal

We did Teppanyaki in Feb. when DD was almost 2. If I recall she was sleeping through the first part of the meal on my lap, and when she woke up, they brought her ice cream to have with her older sisters!(great lunch!) She did fine, and there were plenty of other children in the restaurant. I will warn you that you sit very close to the grill, although I don't think that the outer edges of the grill get very hot. If you have an overactive toddler that you would be worried with touching it, than you might want to save it until they are older. I just told my kids it was very hot, and they did not touch it. I've been to several Japanese restaurants before, and this is probably the closest we have sat to the grill. There is just enough room for your plate, and then the edge of the grill is right there (hope this makes sense).

I have to agree with ErinC. We have taken our 2.5 yo to a few Japanese Steakhouses near home, and one thing to keep in mind is the flame. Most of the chefs like to do really neat things with fire (choo choo train w/ onion, volcano with onion, etc.) however this really upset our dd when it first happened, and now whenever we walk into a similar restaurant, it takes her awhile before she'll get off of our laps and sit in her highchair, because she is afraid of the fire. It might be disappointing for adults, but to avoid having an upset toddler, it might be better to ask the chef to stick with as many "non-fire" tricks as possible. Have a great time!!! :Pinkbounc

Thanks for the replies! It will be great if we manage to get there. We have an ADR for 5.30 one night. I think DD will love the food and the entertainment.

We go to a local restaurant at least once a month and have been going since my son was born (he is now 19 months). He loves it! My DD (5) is a picky eater and it is her favorite place (the fire restaurant). Her second favorite is another local Japanese restaurant with regular table service (the bean restaurant in honor of the soybean appetizer). She loves Japanese food (and my son loves the rice, veggies and miso soup -- especially the tofu).
