tents only in the premium sites? Do the rv people mind?

Back on topic for the OP (and also because I don't give a rat's behind about Lar's opinion).

If I recall correctly, all the premium sites cost the same amount. If you pitch a tent, you are paying the same amount for the site as the $1K MH next to you. Therefore, pitch your tent, pop up your screen room, and have a great time! The Fort is not about the "have's and the have-not's". It's about enjoying yourself!!

Also - most of the people with the $1K MH's started out in their younger years with pop-up's, TT's, or the like. They understand and don't care. Some of them wish they were in good enough health to enjoy a tent again. Take a good look at the people in the fancy scmancy MH's. Most are over 60, and it took them 40 years or more to be able to get to a point where they could afford their luxury. Also, for some of them, that is their only home, and it is most likely mortgaged to the hilt. Don't ever measure yourself against someone else. You don't know their whole story and you with your tent may actually be more solvent than them with their $1K MH.

Have a great time and don't be concerned with the guy next door! Life is too short - so enjoy the Fort!

Well said! In fact, In fact, many of us can state that some of our BEST camping experiences were from when we "tented". Any time I hear someone pull a zipper down on a back pack or coat, etc., it reminds me of one of our past camping trips/adventures and makes me smile! :thumbsup2

OP, if you waste time worrying about what other people think, you'll never do anything in life. We tent camped for years before we bought our TT. I have tried to teach the kids that you have to gain satisfaction from what you have, and the memories you make. No matter how much you spend, or what you have, someone else will always have more and bigger.

I couldn't care less what any of my neighbors think of my camping rig. If they don't like being next to me then they can move, as far as I'm concerned.

I couldn't agree more! :thumbsup2 No matter what you do, there will always be folks who will look down their noses at you. Fortunately that is a small minority of campers. As a whole, I find that campers are the most down to earth and helpful people you will ever find.

:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

The first year we brought our little hybrid to the Fort ('06) it was a last minute trip and we were only able to get a premium site.

This was before you saw hybrids everywhere and I think we may have been the only one at the Fort that trip.

Our cute little hybrid did look a bit out of place amongst the massive MHs, but you know what? Lots of our neighbors came by asking if they could take a tour because they thought our camper was cool! ;)

Pitch your tent and have a wonderful trip!

It's ok. I like to rent a site just for the perks anyway, and stay off property.

Just get some paint and wright Prevost on the side of your tent and they will never no the difference!

Thanks guys.....I can't wait:banana::banana: You all have mad me feel very welcomed!

most all of us started in tents and moved up to larger quarters, I've never given it a second thought. one year in 300 loop a chevy astro van with a window air conditioner duct taped in the drive side window was next too us, we shared several adult beverages together and the wife and I only thought how awesome it was thay they could find a way to afford their kids a trip to WDW!

All that does is keep someone who really wants to camp from getting a site. You could at least set up a tent at 0300 so that it looks like you set up.

I have this friend,,I'll call him Fred as he wants to remain anonymous, and I promise you, he literally holds the knowledge of the world in his head, (REALLY !!) and he's always ready to give you his opinion AND MUCH MORE if you ask a question,,anyways, I explained to him my dilemma and he came up with the perfect scenario for me,,and I gotta say , I like it.
Gonna make a quick trip to the Fort for a long weekend, won't have time to bother with sett'n up camp, wash'n clothes, etc., so Fred has suggested a Porta Potty rental delivered to my site before my arrival and placed between two motorcoaches to block the wind, string a green line (green to show I'm in tune to nature) from both sides of the Porta Potty to a tree upon which which I can air out my clothes so no washing is needed. I won't need to use the comfort station as I will already have my potty, I can sleep sitt'n up and ready to go at a moments notice, and as far as baths, well, I'll just be help'n the greenie weenies in with conserving water and soap to save the planet, (just doing my part)
All I could do is just MARVEL at what a friggn genius my bud Fred is !!!
Thats what I'm gonna do,,so I say to you,,
GO FOR IT !! I can honestly only think of one person who may whine moan and groan about ya'll pitching a tent tween two big rigs,,but I can't remember his name , so his OPINION must not be that important.

Ya'll hava GREAT time at the Fort!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2
