I looked at pics of campsites to try an get an idea, but I'm just gonna ask...

How far is the electric hookup from the actual tent set-up area. In other words, how long do my extension cords need to be? We won't be needing them for anything other than basic electric in the tent. Not planning on cooking.

I would bring a 50 ft. better safe than sorry.

Yep, 40 - 50 ft. OUTDOOR extension cord.

Is there such a thing as an "outdoor" power strip? or will an ordinary power strip do? Not tenting it like the OP, but want to set up an outdoor kitchen area in a screen room (toaster, coffee pot, crock pot, phone charger, etc.)

I have seen power strip type of thing use at xmas time i have one with 6 outlets a day / night sensor but it has a spike on the bottom to stick in the yard so don't know if this would work for you but you could look in a homedepot or something like that maybe even a sporting goods store will see what i can find out good luck

I'd bring two 25' footers and then you can run two circuits. Also a power strip for inside the tent will help and they are out of the elements there.

I have a heavy duty 50ft out door extension cord i got in homedepot that has three outlets on the female end depending on how many outlets you think you need this may due or you could bring 2 that would give you six don't think you should need to power more then that at once if so then you will need power strips just make sure if you use them outside they are the right ones

As long as you keep it out of the direct rain you should be OK. Also you probably won't need the expensive ones with surge supression, just a plain one will do.

I would recommned a several 25' or 50' outdoor cords and they have a spliter at teh end - 1 to 3. This way you can run the waffle iron and coffee pot at the same time. It never hurts to have an extra fan in the tent. If you are thinking about bringing an AC, please make sure you are get a heavy duty cord.....
