Tenting: 1500 or 2000?

Ok, I've done my homework, (really!) but am looking for some first-hand, word-of-mouth recommendations. For those of you who have tented (or pop-up'd) in the 1500 and 2000 loops, what are your opinions? I know 1500 is closer to activities, but 2000 might be quieter (overall). I'm torn because we'll have the kids with us, but when it's time for sleep or just an afternoon "time out," I want a place to have a reprieve! Ideas?...Suggestions?

We stayed in the 2000 loop 3x (twice tent, once pop-up) and finally in the 1500 loop this past April. I really like the 1500 loop, but in spite of always requesting it, we've only been there once. We have even had the same site in 2000 -- what are the odds of that. I heard more noise from buses in 2000. They used to turn around not too far from the bus stop, so you'd hear them coming and going, but I don't know if that's still the same. I really like the convenience of being close to the main pool and the Meadows.

We have stayed in both loops and I love the 1500 loop. I like being able to walk to the Meadows store, pool, and campfire. I don't remember it being loud there but in the evening I think you can hear the movie in the distance.
The last time we camped (2003), I requested 1500 but we were given a site in 2000 that was very close to the group camping area. The group that was there was very loud with kids running around screaming until after midnight.

Yikes, I wouldn't like that! Do all loops have a group area or just certain ones?

We have stayed in the 2000 loop both times we've camped at Ft. Wilderness. Since we have never stayed in 1500 I don't have anything to compare to but both of our experience in 2000 were great! I don't recall any major bus noise and the loop was not full either time so the "neighbor noise" was minimal. We were on site #2007 this past December. We were close enough but not too close to the bathhouse and bus stop.

We have asked for 1500 both time but have never gotten it. We would just like to stay once just to see if being closer is really that much better. We had a golf cart for the first time this last trip so being close wasn't a major issue. We just LOVE this campground so anything is better than being at home!

theres only one major 'group' site thats mainly used on weekends by church groups/clubs. There ARE quiet hours, so if that happens again CALL security. We have an RV and 2xs in the past 2 years during our stay we have seen WD personel "kick out" rowdy campers. They will DO it if people complain. In general too, you probably would be happier in a tenting loop. THe one across the Meadows 1500? is popular coz its in walking distance of the facilities and there seems to be good bus service there.
Far as the bus noise, I just would NOT stay in one of the front sites (some peeps actually REQUEST these sites). Even when we stay in the cabins some time in the later quieter hours you might here a little bus noise but its not bad.

I love 1500. Have stayed there 3 years in a row. The closeness to all amenities is great.

The only thing about 1500, however is the "sand pad" portion of most of the sites seems to be smaller overall than 2000.

2000 looks to be a newer loop and as such, the sand pads are all designed a little differently and seem to be set up better for tent campers.

Also, since loop 2000 is so huge there is a good possibility you will be a good distance from a comfort station.

One other disadvantage to Loop 2000 is it is on the purple bus line which DOES NOT stop anywhere near the Meadows trading post area. You will either need to walk or ride bikes/golf cart, or take a bus to outpost or settlement, then transfer to get to the Movie/Campfire, Bike Barn, etc.

Set up your stuff in the backyard (or other campsite) similar to how you believe it would be set up at Ft. Wilderness, then measure the width and length of your stuff. Then tell Central Reservtions the minimum dimensions of the pad you will need. Also once you arrive, if you don't like the site you've been assigned, feel free to drive around the Loop to see if there are any other sites that you like better that are empty. Then call the front desk from a house phone and most likely they will allow you to move.
