Now that we have sold our TT and sold our 2008 F250 Lariat 4x4 Supercrew, longbed :sad2: we will be purchasing a family size tent to go camping. Does anybody have suggestions for building a "Chuck Box" or plans for one? I built one 30 years ago when I was in the Boy Scouts, which was way long ago to remember how I built it. I'm looking for something to build that I can fit in the back of a Toyota, Sienna (mini-van). I have searched the web and have not found anything that impressed me. Thanks for any input!!

P.S. The girls are doing great at homeschool! They love it and best of all we took DD10 off her ADHD meds and she's gaining weight and much more sociable!!!:thumbsup2

Curious....what IS a chuck box? LOL I have never heard of this. So what made you guys downsize to a tent? I usually see people upgrading from a tent, but not the other way......Like I said, just curious. I would love to homeschool my kids, but I just dont think I have the patients. Isnt it great when you can take you child off ADHD meds and they are doing great! I like to tell the doctors that.

Take Care.

Carol- Thanks for posting that link. I vividly remember building a patrol box back in my scouting days. I remember carving into that big sheet of plywood with a circular saw. It's a miracle that I still have all my fingers! I have often thought about building one, as it would be a useful thing to have at the campsite. But, for me, it would be too bulky, and I really don't need it with my trailer and other equipment.

But, if I ever change my mind, now I have the plans.

Thanks.

Thanks for the replies. I am going to start this project in a couple of weeks. If I am successful I will post some pics. We downsized from a TT to a tent because my spouse resigned her position with her employer to home school our daughters. We took a huge financial hit and could no longer afford to keep the TT and the truck, but it is worth the sacrifice!:)

That IS an awesome sacrifice......I can totally understand your decision. You will have fun camping, no matter what your in, because you will be together! Good luck and have fun building your chuck box! :thumbsup2
