Tent Camping

My wife and I were planning on staying offsite becuase we cannot afford even the Value Resorts. We both love Camping and the only way we could afford to stay onsite is in a tent!!!

I am fine and dandy with the idea but my wife is scared of storms! We are going during the first week of June. Should she be worried so much or should I be worried more?

I am depending on your answers to decide if I should change from a Howard Johnson on 192 to Tent Camping in the Resort!!!!

I have been to WDW many, many times the first week of June and its a good time to go before the big crowds. I have never expirenced bad storms during this time, although there might be some rain.

I agree. There may be some showers, but more than likely you will be at the parks when they happen because they usually occur during the afternoon. If she gets really scared, she can hang out in the restroom or laundry room until it passes, but I don't think she has anything to worry about. If she loves camping, she should have some experience and should have no problems. I would try to convince her. Camping at the Fort is great!

Just make sure you set your tent up correctly and secure the guy lines well. Nice thing about Florida in June...you'll dry quickly!

There will most certainly be rain the first week of June.....I know this because it's my sister's birthday week, and it always rains on her birthday.

But since you will be at Disney, it's easy enough to find cover (go to the park, shopping, etc) . . . not like camping in the real wilderness.

I would worry more about the heat than thunderstorms. If it does rain, it's usually around 2 or 3 in the afternoon, then they are gone. The sea breezes from the East and West coast like to meet over Orlando. But they usually don't last long and bet you'll be out doing something in a park or down at Bay Lake or at one of the pools in the afternoon.
Are you bringing a fan or fans, maybe even an AC????
Don't let the storms worry you, they tend to cool things down. HoJo can't compare to Fort Wild..........

We camped last June in a tent for 6 wonderful days and nights. Most nights the weather was nice and comfortable. I did have a small fan just to help circulate the air. It rained a few times, once really hard but we where in the parks.

The Fort beats the Ho Jo hands down anytime, rain or shine! I think you should go for it! If you love camping, you won't be sorry!
