I hope I am not the only one following the US Open that started today,

Who do you think will win? Men's I expected Federer, but I want Agassi and the Women's I don't know who to expect but I would like to see Davenport take it!

My first thoughts on today's matches are:

1. I am so happy Brian Baker took out Gaudio in straight sets, the first seeded upset!

2. How funny is it that Serena's $40,000 earrings broke within the first five minutes? Who wears $40,000 earrings to play professional tennis?

Anyway, I hope others are watching!

i love the US open...
i would love to see roddick win, but it wont happen the way that he has been playing--personally, i just cant stand federer!!

womens....dont really have a favorite--would like to see it be someone other than the williams sisters

My DW's dream, as well as mine, is to go and watch the US Open. Maybe when the kids are older we'll do it.

Anyways, I think Federer will take it but Hewitt has a good chance, too. I'd like to see Andre win it all as I'm sure he'll have the crowd on his side. For the womens side, I would have thought that Sharapova had a good chance but she's been hampered by injuries this summer. Davenport definitely has an outside chance but the women's side is a tough one to call...

I would like to see Roddick win on the men's side and Davenport or Sharapova win on the women's side. The women's draw looks to have some very interesting matches especially in the second week if big upsets are avoided.

Sharapova's match is starting now on USA channell!

We will see if she is up to a tough first match!

In the last 20 years I've only missed going about three times (unfortunately this year will probably be four). It is great to see live especially in the early rounds where there is action on all of the courts. Even if you are not a big tennis fan it is something worth experiencing. :)

Lou, I know I won't see you at the DIS meets in December, but I am planning to meet you at a DIS meet next year at the US Open!!! I've never been, but I really want to go! I go to the NASDAQ many days each year, but it's just not the same!

i'm glad someone started this thread! Ever since my all time favorite Pete Sampras retired, I go back and forth between wanting Roddick and Agassi to win. It'd be great to see either of them win again. My third favorite to watch play is Tim Henman, so he'd be my third choice. I also really like to watch Justin Gimelstob and have hopes for up and coming Scoville Jenkins.

For the ladies, Lindsay Davenport has been my favorite since I started watching tennis so many years ago. My next 2 favorites to watch are Justine Henin-Hardenne and Kim Clijsters. Both great players that give awesome tennis to watch.

I said I wanted Agassi, but that is just because he doesn't have many grand slams left... If we are talking about favorites, then I would see Tommy Haas winning this slam! It was touch and go for his first match, but he won in four sets! :lovestruc

I would LOVE to see any tennis match live ...i never got to, but my friends and i are going to try to get ticktes for next year...

Being in the DC area, we always have the Legg Mason Tennis Classic. I've never gone though! I almost went this year, but the matches my friend had tickets for, I couldn't make.

I Love Tennis!! It seems I am the only one around here that does. I drive my family crazy watching it. Wouldn't be awesome to see Federer lose? I mean...it would be exciting no matter who he lost to. About Serena....I'm not a big fan. She thinks too highly of herself. However, I am a fan of Venus! :paw: :cheer2: I am a huge fan of Jennifer Capriati and wish she were playing!

I worked at the US Open for 8 years. 15 hour days for two weeks straight. Eeeeeeeppppp!!!! I don't miss it at all. Hehe. Although I do miss that $$$$$$$ OT check.

Sometimes I was able to escape to watch some tennis. Very rare though. I used to have a crush on Pete Sampras. One of the matches I snuck out for was the famous one where he puked all over the court. Watching that made me feel ill and I had to stop watching. :(
