We are DVC owners and are thinking of using our points to exchange for a trip to Tennessee. Has anyone ever been there using points? Which resort did you stay at? I am looking for any information I can get.

Thanks!

I use my Wyndham points to stay in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. My Wyndham points trade through RCI.

My home resort with Wyndham is Wyndham Smoky Mountains in Sevierville, Tennessee (Pigeon Forge area). I stayed at my home resort last May and enjoyed my visit. The units have all been refurbished and are nice. The resort is about 10 years old and was built in stages. There are two outdoor swimming pools and two indoor swimming pools. There are two different sections of the resort and they are directly across the road from each other. Here's a link to Wyndham Smoky Mountains:

Wyndham also has a brand new resort in Sevierville that has an indoor and outdoor water park. It's called Wyndham Vacation resorts at Great Smokie Lodge:

I've heard Crown Park is nice to stay at (which is part of Holiday Inn Club Vacations now):

Other RCI resorts that are supposed to be decent are Tree Tops, Gatlinburg Town Square, and Bluegreen's Mountain Loft.

The Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area is lovely - the mountains are beautiful. We drove through Cades Cove and really enjoyed the drive back through time.

Good luck with your planning.

There are 6 on the DVC list, 5 in the Gatlinburg area and the one in Nashville. All are reasonable to stay at but all are going to be a downtrade where DVC is concerned. You can likely get a direct exchange or private rental and come out way ahead compared to using DVC points. Of the resorts listed, I think the Wyndham ones will be the best from a resort and room standpoint and possibly the Holiday Inn. Mountainloft II is likely the best if you combine location and resort if you want a woods feel though some might argue Tree Tops in this spot. The HI resort is essentially downtown Gatlinburg if that location appeals, small but nice rooms I hear. Likely the best resort in the area will be the new Wyndham resort (not yet on the list) and the Westgate resort (II).
