Hi Folks,
New to the boards. Hope this is the correct place to ask this. Does anyone know what the temps are typically like the first week of Jan

Hi,

Unfortunately there is no "typical" January temperature in Orlando!

You could have days near 80 with cool mornings, or you could have mornings near freezing with afternoon high temperatures struggling to get out of the 40s. Both of those things could happen with a few days of each other!

You'll need to pack a little of everything!

Enjoy,

Bob

Bob P is sooooooo right. That's the only problem with going at that time. You have to have a little of everything. Two years ago we wore pants one day and shorts the next. It makes packing fun. But it still is the best time of year to go IMHO. Plus were from Maine so how bad can it be in Florida in January. Maine :firefight

and if you are flying make sure you take a winter coator enought stuff to layer. we only used it for 1 day/night one time but really needed it then.it was the wind more than the temps ( temps about 45-50 but really windy) also normally we take a light spring type jacket or sweatshirt for after dark as even on warm days( 70) the temp goes down fast after dark ( like while watchng the fireworks)

that being said i got my only sunburn ever once in Jan so go figure

if you can do an online 10 day forcast prepacking it might give you abetter idea of what it will be like when you are there

imo it's worth the possible lack of warmth for the walking on the attractions. if you want to swim do it mid day and if you get a nice day take the opportunity then as it might not be warm enough another day

We were in Florida last year, the nights got down to 30-40 and the days were around 60-70. The days it was 60 was warm but I needed to ware a sweatshirt in the am and maybe a tee in the afternoon. It's still warmer then up here at that time of year. I didn't bring any shorts, I did have some capris(?sp) only used them once. Mostly had on tee's and pants. Used the sweatshirts at night and mornings. Have fun, low crowds.

Been twice the first week in January (third will be coming up) :cool1:
2002 - a couple pleasant days with rain then FROZEN fingers. We bought hats and gloves in the parks. Could not believe we were in Florida :cold: !
2005 - beautiful, shorts, lounging at the pool, swimming, 80's, sweating to dehydration in the road race (now it was cool at 4 am, but quickly warmed up with the sunrise). :sunny:

I was in WDW with the rest of my family during the last week of January (and first week of Feb) 2005.

The first full day we were there we had to wear coats, winter hats, and gloves. My wife did not bring gloves, but it was so cold she had to buy gloves in the Emporium on Main Street. Two days later we were in T-shirts and long pants, but no coats or winter hats. A couple of days after that we were in t-shirts and shorts.

Out of 13 full days in Orlando, the temperature was warm enough to go swimming on about 3 of those days.

I also found weather forecasts to be significantly off, even same-day forecasts! One day, the forecast on the TV for later the same day suggested a high of 73, but the actual high was about 78. If we had known it would be 78, we could have gone to Blizzard Beach, but we were in Magic Kingdom in the late afternoon when we realized it was so warm. On many days we found the actual temperature to be 3-5 degress off what was forecast for the same day.

Been there for the first week of January several times. Most of the time we had sweatshirt/jackets on. Did not go to the water parks. Too cold to be going in and out of the water. One day temps were in the 30's and the CMs were covering up plants to protect them from frost. Otherwise I would say 70's during the day and cool nights.

Here is the data for the days I'll be there in January. Basically the temps are all over the place. As was mentioned perviously, check the weather before you leave to get a better idea. :sunny:
