Tell us the ways to beat fast pass+

I assume some sort of genius will hack the system and enable a super magic band.
I figure a lot more folks will be using DAS as a fast pass double dip.

i doubt anyone will be able to hack the system, the creators of the system can't even figure it out let alone hackers :rotfl2:

hmmm...some are taking being called 'lazy' as a negative...I take it as a compliment. when i'm on vaca I want to be lazy, it's VACATION. so for me, I will gladly take the moniker of 'lazy' any day of a Disney week:cool1:

At this point I could care less whether anyone likes Fastpass+ or not but to label anyone lazy because they prefer to arrive later in the day is wrong.

Just maybe that lazy guest was playing golf, riding horses, gone fishing, rented a boat, or a bike.

It is rude to call them lazy when you know nothing about them. It is a vacation which some seem to forget.

If you would like to say "late arrivals to the park" that is different.

Totally agree with this. I enjoyed EMH at MK this past weekend until 3am and I'll be darned if I was going to get back up at 7am to make rope drop after 3 hours of sleep. I don't think it makes a person lazy to want to sleep on their vacation when many presumably spend the rest of their year getting up before the sun is up to go to work. We normally are rise-n-shine rope-drop people at WDW, but I don't care what others do with their vacation and it's mean to imply they're lazy if they want to relax a little before hitting the parks. And honestly, I thank them for taking that time to relax because the parks are a little emptier usually during that first hour or two and we can get a lot done. ;)

My wife and I are runners. Most days at WDW I run at least 5 miles before most people have even opened their eyes. You either run before the sun comes up or you melt. We then shower and eat before heading to the parks, so we are late arrivals. But lazy? Not so much.

Our trip last week was the first that didn't make us pay dearly for those runs. We could roll into DHS at 11:30 and still have a FP+ for TSMM. On previous trips we had to choose - exercise or ride. Now we can do both.

My biggest concern about the new system is the amount of advance research a first time visitor will have to do. I am an over planner (out of excitement) but even so when I went to Disneyland I did play it by ear a bit and collected fast passes when a ride looked like it was necessary. If I have never been on the wdw rides how am I going to know which ones are best to use the fast passes for and which ones am I going to be more likely to enjoy without a lot of research. I enjoy planning but sometimes it is fun to just get on a ride and know nothing about it whereas my next step in planning my first wdw trip is going to have to be researching which rides I want to use fp+ for.

Just got back yesterday and only used FP+ for the entire trip. To me, the trick to riding more rides is to get to the park at rope drop, ride the high demand rides first, then use your FP+ later in the day when the crowds are heavier. The lazy park visitors get to the park around 10-11 am and have missed out on the smaller crowds and the ability to get on attractions with short standby lines. The savvy visitor has ridden a ton of rides early while the lazy ones are sipping coffee at the hotel.

What an ignorant post. Just because one doesn't make it to rope drop they are considered "lazy"? Your definition of "vacation" might be waking up at the crack of dawn and riding as many rides as possible while inconveniencing your family . MY idea of a vacation is for the whole family to relax and enjoy the atmosphere...So please don't make the ignorant statement that whoever doesn't make the rope drop is "lazy".........

We find that Splash Mountain goes down a lot. So we always book FP for Splash Mountain. If it does go down, they will send you an anytime FP. It's an idea that is certainly not foolproof, but if it works, it's always nice to have an anytime FP to use at select attractions. And if it doesn't go down, well then we are happy to ride it. :)

For me it would be BTMRR. It was down more than it was up on our last few trips. But a great strategy! :thumbsup2

I found it best to get to one park for RD...do what I wanted to at that park in the morning, then hop to the park that I had make my FP+ choices at. That worked like a charm for me. On the days that we didn't want to get up early? Still made FP+ choices for later in the day...so much nicer than having to choose between sleep and riding TSM!!!

This thread is dedicated to sharing ways to get a leg up under the new fast pass+ system.

Currently, with the end of double dipping the new fast pass system is unchartered territory. Being a fan of the old fast pass system I never felt the need to double dip. I just out planned and out hustled my fellow wdw patrons. Now we have a relatively even playing field where even the lazy park visitors do not have to hustle to get an even amount of fast passes. To me, this is not going to work. There has to be a better way.

Let us help one another to find ways to get more fast passes!

What about this:

So what is going on with the fastpasses? I don't know if there's an actual answer in this thread about this question. I was wondering this exact same thing and haven't got an answer from the CM's. They ALL give me different answers from there's no such thing as rider's switch pass to just swapping the child at the entrance. no pass needed! I've really stressed myself out with this and I'm going to ask here again!!

Are you able to have parent A make a fastpass selection for an attraction, and the other parentB receive a rider's swap pass for the same attraction while parent B makes another choice and do the same thing (get rider's pass)?? EX. Parent A gets fastpass for soarin, Parent B gets rider's swap pass for soarin, Parent B gets fastpass for test track, parent A gets a rider's swap pass for test track??

Lazy??? Seriously? Some of us like to relax just a *little* bit on vacation and guess what-so do our kids (and probably YOUR kids too). Commando touring where you just got to get as much in with the perfectly preplanned sequence takes a lot of the fun out of vacation for many of us. I can just imagine you, OP, and your family as the people I see where the mom/dad are frantically walking as fast as they can with miserable children in tow with choice words for all who would get in the way of the "tour plan" including and usually your own children and/or spouse.

My kids are up bright and early every day for school and so is my husband for work...when we are on vacation ( and yes, we do perceive WDW as vacation, imagine that) we like to sleep a little and stay up late a little. Getting up at the crack of dawn to go to an amusement park is not fun for us and we are FAR from lazy people.

It's OK, you can be called "lazy" because we rope drop people, who were "abusing" the system, were called "uber-users". LOL :lmao:

Can't we all just love one another?

can ya all drop the lazy conversation and answer my question.. get back to the discussion of what this thread is really about..lol

Two best ways to leverage the system today are:

* Book FP+ for busy times in the park in combination with a solid rope drop strategy.
* If you wish to hop, arrive at rope drop for the first park and make FP+ reservations in the second park.

I got nothin' else. :confused3

Can I be the guy that says people trying to [beat | abuse | uberuse | work | make-the-most-of] the FP system is why we now have FP+?

I mean, are you trying to get WDW to move on to FP++ already?

;)

This is my plan for my upcoming trip. We will continue to be rope droppers (with the exception of the night we shut down MK at 3am, but we will head to Epcot for a WS drink crawl the next day, so 11am it is.)
I would think this the easiest strategy for hitting the most items possible.

I will definitely utilize single rider lines on RnR, EE, and TT. It just makes sense and as I am screaming my head off, I don't care who sits next to me.

Using firework and parade times at all the parks is also a good strategy. During Fantasmic you can definitely hit up some shorter lines on the Big 3. During the parades and fireworks, the Tier IIs at MK are almost walk-on, and Space/Peter Pan seem to be the only long lines. Sometimes you can hit short lines during Illuminations, but not so much for Soarin, but getting in the line right as the park closes can be helpful (same for TSM). At AK, during the parade and after it ends tend to make all the lines shorter.

Hope this helps. I think we all approach vacations differently. When I bring others (outside of my nuclear family) with me, I stick to my schedule and if they come along, great! If they want to lounge by the pool, cool! We just tend to be commandos. I don't expect everyone to be the same.

Alternately, instead of arguing over whether late arrivers are "lazy" or not, we could just accept that being lazy is perfectly normal human behavior.

I'm lazy. To me, getting up early in the morning just to go on a ride isn't worth it. I'm glad the new FP+ system will let me do that, without all you early morning, type A people getting all the fastpasses. If you don't like it, adjust.

But more to the OP's point, you can buy extra fastpasses - just buy two tickets, and get two magic bands. Sure, it doubles your cost, but if you really want to be sneaky, you could buy the extra tickets as child tickets for everyone - even adults (I doubt they'd check them at the FP station).

The two caveats with that is are

1) I don't know whether the magic bands will work if they haven't been scanned at the park entrance (I think it would depend on whether Disney has already thought of this). If they did, you could probably just enter the park with your first band, walk right back out (do you scan MBs on the way out? probably not), and re-enter the park with your second set.

2) Being non-resort guests with that second ticket, you'll have to reserve your FP+ at the park. But again, as of now there appear to be plenty of FP+ left.

If it sounds outrageous price-wise, it is. But then again, Universal's front of the line pass is double the price of a regular pass. I don't doubt that many wealthy WDW visitors will be trying this soon.
