Tell me your thoughts about "The Secret"

I am having a rough time.

Part of it is that I haven't been taking my meds like I should (you know, every day- not once a week when I happen to remember).

Part of it is the stress of the holidays and family.

Part of it is my job (I transferred branches to be closer to home, and I sort of wish I hadn't- my new office is much busier, more hectic, more stressful, and the people there- well, they just aren't the people I worked with before, and I miss those girls).

Part of it is money. Always an underlying stressor for me.

I know this path, and I don't want to be on it, but I'm having a hard time finding ways around my negativity and stress. I'm trying really hard, but could use some help or suggestions or reminders, anything.

Hang in there, Becky. Here are some suggestions:

1) Make meds part of your morning routine (or evening or after meal or whenever you are supposed to take them.) Every morning I go to the bathroom, brush my teeth, go to the kitchen to get a glass of water, and take my meds. It is now more habit than anything. My body just goes thru those motions without me even thinking about it.

2) If your stress is dealing with people, I have a great saying that someone taught me. "I'm sorry. Forgive Me. I Love You." One of my biggest stressors is traffic. I have to say that the very large majority of drivers are wonderful and helpful. I have discovered this when I started focusing on good, considerate drivers instead of looking for the bad drivers. Once in awhile, I will still yell out "You Jerk!" Then I remember myself and say "I'm sorry. Forgive me. I love you." Of course, the other guy can't hear me but I it calms me. At first I just said the words. Now I really mean them. I say it to myself for thinking/speaking harshly and the other driver (who may be dealing with his/her own situation.)

I've started saying this to family members, friends, strangers, and myself. (Not out loud. Just to myself.) It is amazing how much calmer I have become in dealing with people.

3) Love your Job. Love your co-workers. Love the busyness (it makes the day go by faster). When you go in each morning, greet every person warmly and with love whether you like them or not. Then make a To Do list of what must be done, then a list of what can wait, then a list of minor stuff. Check off what gets done. Break big tasks down into chunks and cross of each chunk as it gets done. Seeing what you have accomplished visually really impacts you. Schedule a break in the afternoon and stick to it. Go out for a walk if the weather is nice. If you have an office door, close it. If you have a one stall bathroom, go in there. Just go somewhere where you can have 5 minutes of privacy. During these 5 minutes don't think about work, home, bills. Don't listen to music. Don't read (unless it is something inspiring). Meditate. Just be silent in those few minutes. Concentrate on your breathing. If your mind starts to wander, say "Later" and move back into silence.

4) Money is always an issue, so stay away from news about the economy. That makes you focus on lack. The News also takes a bad situation and makes it worse by focusing on the worst possible scenarios and making people panic. Do you have a place to live? Whether it be a one room apartment or a large house. Do you have enough to eat? Maybe not out to dinner or steaks every night, but are you eating? Do you have a job? Are you able to buy a few things for the holiday you are celebrating? Are you focusing on what you can't afford to buy/have right now or are you focusing on what you do have?

I sometimes feel lack, but whenever I do I try to focus on 3 to 5 things that I do have in Abundance. Here is Sarah Ban Breathnach's definition of abundance: "Anytime you have more than you need, you have abundance."

5) Do you have anything to give? Go through your closets. I am making myself get rid of the clothes I "might fit into one day if I lose 10 more pounds." Someone else has need of them right now. If my kids haven't played with a toy in a year, I am donating it (or tossing if broken.) Have a garage sale. If you don't have enough for a garage sale, then donate to Goodwill, the Salvation Army, a shelter, etc. Bless the items as you donate them. There is a law of circulation as well as a law of attraction. Use it.

Much Love to you all!!!
Jody

I am finally getting around to reading the Secret. I've read Jack Canfield's (?) Law of Attraction book. I've read Wayne Dyer's Power of Intention. I've taken the Foundations of Science of Mind class. I've watched What the Bleep?. And I'm still getting good info out of this book.

Today's email:
Nothing is ever lost. Not time; for what seems to have passed, lives on in the wisdom of future decisions. Not money; for what seems to have been spent, was only invested. And not love; for what seems to have vanished, has only moved so close you must look within your heart to see it.

Here and now, whether or not it's obvious, you are the best you've ever been.

Good Morning everyone!
Just want to say Hi and wish you all a Merry Christmas Happy Holiday.:santa:

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all of you! I am so glad this thread is still going.

Here's to staying positive in 2009!

Karen

Happy, Happy Holidays to each and every one of you. I am off for the rest of the week so for my movie tonight, I am watching _The Secret_. I haven't seen it yet, so I am looking forward to seeing what I get out of it. I have about 20 pages left in the book.

I have the coolest horoscope today! I'm working on creating a dayspa at my salon and I've gotten everything written down right down to the wastebaskets...

Pacing yourself is important, for even the best ideas can fall short of manifestation. Fortunately, you have very accurate perceptions and can estimate how much effort will be required to complete a task. Prioritize your goals and figure out a pragmatic strategy that allows you to accomplish them. You don't need to hold yourself back now; working at your natural pace allows you to reach your dreams.

Dropping in for some positivity. I'm reading the Power of Positive Thought right now by Norman Vincent Peale. Interesting ideas! Ties into everything else we've been discussing.

Okay, I have my books for the year ready!

I have created my Positive Energy table. My mom gave me an old, round table that has a little shelf on the bottom. I've placed an old, but beautiful cloth over it. On top I have my vision board and 4 books: _Simple Abundance_ and the _SA Companion_ by Sarah Ban Breathnach, _365 Science of Mind_ by Ernest Holmes, _The Secret Daily Teachings_ by Rhonda Byrne (I started this one on Monday as it begins on any Monday rather than the first of the year.) I also have my current Science of Mind magazine, my Gratitude Journal, a blank spiral notebook for jotting special quotes, etc., 2 special pens, and a highlighter. On the shelf underneath are some candles and CDs with Native American or Mediation music.

My goal every evening is to read the day's passage from each book, write 5 things I am grateful for in my Gratitude Journal, reflect on my Vision Board, meditate briefly, then make any notes in my spiral notebook.

I am really looking forward to this and am really planning on giving myself at minimum 20 minutes for myself before bedtime. I still use my Spirit Guide planner and hope to fill it up even more with Themes and Manifestations.

What are you doing beginning Jan. 1st?

Jody- cool idea!

My DH and I are having a New Year's Eve meeting tonight: we're going to work on our Family Mission Statement, and discuss goals, plans, dreams, and ideas for the new year. :) I hope to make this a yearly tradition.

Beginning Jan. 1, I am going to also be reading Simple Abundace, which I've had for years, but never read, and I also bought the Simple Abundance Companion that I am going to work on.

For now, I have given up on A New Earth, as it wasn't resonating.

Jody what an amazing idea. I just may have to steal a bit of it!;)

Happy New Year everyone!!

Jody what a great idea!

DisTeach1 I tried to read a new earth a couple times it wasn't resonating with me either. But there are so many books on my list I just move on to the next.

I have been "doing" the Secret for over a year now.

When I started my vision board, I had all of the usual suspects....no bills, a bigger house, a promotion for my husband...

In Aug. '08, he received a promotion with a 50% pay increase. We were thrilled!

My husband found out on Friday that he got another promotion....this one puts his salary in the 6 figure mark. :scared1: I nearly fainted when he said that!

On Wednesday, my husband was looking at our vision board and said "You can take this promotion off the board. I already got it". My response was "No, let's keep it on there for a BIGGER promotion". Two days later, IT HAPPENED!

Now, with this pay increase, we have plans on buying that bigger house that's been on our board. ;)

I really believe that this positive thinking works!! :thumbsup2

Thanks for sharing that. It's something I needed to hear.
