Oh my gosh this thread has gotten big! I love all of these interesting ideas and tips- thank you!
Now that I'm starting to follow the teachings in The Secret and A New Earth, I have noticed how my past actions/emotional states have attracted more of the same.
In the "classes" on A New Earth (get them at Oprah's website or itunes- I highly reccommend them- this book delves much deeper into the law of attraction, emotional pain and baggage), the author Eckhart Tolle and Oprah talk about negative emotions and grief and so on.
What they said was absolutely monumental to me. I had always wondered how you reconciled emotions like grief or sadness with The Secret. And what Tolle said was allow yourself to really feel it, and accept the emotion, then let it go. He says in his book "What you resist persists." A-HA! Feel the emotion, then accept the current reality/situation, and let the emotion go, instead of wallowing in it and making it your state of being. It seems so simple, but so different from the way we do things on this planet.
And, he also mentions along with "What you resist persists"- that this is why the war on disease, the "war" on drugs, etc. have not worked. They're doomed to failure.
SO fascinating.
I listen every day in my commute to these classes, and I find myself going, "Oh!" "A-ha!" - I'm sure I look like a moron. So, if you're driving down 55 and see a girl emphatically nodding to herself- that's me.
