We are new to this whole process and simply want to be cautious. I have heard fairly good things and just thought I would ask!
Thanks for your replies

When you receive your contract, triple check the the paperwork for typos!

That's what held up my first contract, even though I asked, they assured me it was correct and that it was their site that had the wrong info. Needless to say, it was the contract that was incorrect.

Other than that, I have nothing but good things to say about them!

Very pleasant dealing with them and they don't get upset when you phone the thousands of times a day!LOL

We've purchased contracts thru TTS three times without problems. They were great to work with and are very knowledgeable. Our broker, Pat Spell, was one of the original DVC guides and adds that experience to each sale.

Enjoy!

We purchased VWL points through them last fall. It was quick and easy. I highly recommend them!!

We also purchased through the Timeshare Store and just closed (March 30 :cool1: ). They were great to work with and very patient with my pestering them (We had a specific contract in mind as far as Use Year and # of points) and were quick to call when something came up they thought would interest us. The transaction went smoothly.

Their service was excellent (Jerry was our agent) and I would highly recommend them.

We bought an OKW resale in 2002 and had a great experience.

My DW and I bought 270 OKW points at a great price from Jerry at The TimeShare Store, and within an month the contract closed. Two weeks later we having our first offical DVC stay at OKW!

We live in Atlanta, (7 hour drive) so we try to visit WDW every month or so. Which means we are now looking to buy another block of points for The TimeShare Store!!

If you want to talk to the DW about the transaction, send me a private message or an email and I'll give you our phone number.

Just completed a resale purchase with them, (I've purchased 2, the first resale was through another company) and I must be the minority!
I paid cash for the resale (so no financing issues) and kept calling trying to make my reservations, only being told that my info was not in the 'system' yet. I called the gal I had worked with through the Timeshare Store only to find out that the sellers refund was given to them in the incorrect amount and that was the hold up!
If I hadn't called to inquire what the hold up was, I would of never been told of the problems with processing my membership and I would of kept calling member sevices asking for my information and why it wasn't available.

Granted, it was fixed promptly, but only after sounded off quite loudly. Not too happy at all that I was kept informed of the hold up.

I would like to know about this company too. I've had others tell me that if you buy through Disney, it's basically the same price once you figure in all of the costs. Is this true? I'm soo confused!

We purchased two resales through TTS. Both went very smoothly. As to the cost, we did much better than buying from Disney, even with closing costs added, and we were able to buy at VWL without a wait, which is what we wanted. As with everything, you need to look at the particulars of the contract to decide whether or not it is a bargain.

We have purchased two timeshares (OKW and Cypress Harbour) through Timeshare Store and have one for sale. Our agent is Pat Spell. We have had no problems and will use them again.

We just went through this same conundrum!

The first resale we were looking at was 213 SSR points @$80 a point. Full amount of current year points available, which means maint for 2005 would be added to the sale. I then looked at the same points directly from Disney. With no 2005 maint and the current incentive, it worked out to only $200 more.

However, we did want around the 230 point range. To get SSR from Disney, would be just over $20,000. Looking at the listings, there are a few for 250 points that would probably cost $20,500 after adding closing cost and maint on remaining 2005 points.

In the end we decided to go with what 'felt' right. For us this is a minimum 30 year purchase and a difference of $500 or even $2,000 over that 30 years is negligible.

So yesterday afternoon I made the deposit with Disney!

As with any financial decision, it is always wise to consider all costs when comparing purchase options.

As noted earlier in this thread, some sellers are now including closing costs and annual fees in their listed prices, in order to better compete with DVC.

With a purchase decision of this magnitude, be sure to know what the cost would be thru DVC and also what a comparable contract would be thru resale.

Just do the math!

Enjoy!

Buying thru TTS didn't work out well for us. We bid on a contract, and after 5 months of fooling around, we requested our money be returned to us, which it promptly was. A year later, we had a somewhat similar experience, except that this time the agent didn't tell us that several people were interested in the same contract, and they dangled us along for two months before letting us know that a different bid had been accepted. Finally, I called Disney, and had a contract that afternoon, was in the system by the next morning!

As a seller, though, our experience was positive. We contacted TTS, and less than a month later we had our check. The 12% fee was stiff, but well worth it when you consider how fact the check was in our hands!

My TTS experience was all positive. Answered all questions. Even when I called back they never seemed annoyed. No misrepresentation. No pressure. Handled all money professionally.

Saved a bucketload. Whatever 300 x $15 is.

If I bought more points it would be through them. If I bought SSR I would try to get a resale through them if the price were better than Disney's.

Jim,

Your points are well taken. I would value those extra points by adding them to the 11,470 points remaining on your contract and then determining the cost per point.

But I would offer that irrespective of the financial analysis if you cannot use the extra years or if you want to own at another resort you may reasonably conclude that paying a bit more per point (total contract method) is a good decision for you.

As an aside, I believe OKW villas size/layout and resort design are worth a premium, but that is just my personal perspective.

I have no complaints about TTS, but our math may show what I'm talking about.

... <snip> ...
As I said above, there is really not much difference between direct and resale. If you look at nothing more than the initial check you write to get into DVC, you may say resale costs less initially. But the truth is pay more, get more; pay less, get less. Ain't no such thing as a free lunch.

While that analysis may work when comparing SSR to other resorts, it is TOTALLY worthless if a buyer is only interested in any of the sold out resorts. For that analysis, you need to use $89 as the direct purchase price and the years are all the same. In addition, that analysis has absolutely nothing to do with the level of service provided by the Timeshare Store.

Please compare apples and apples when creating analogies. Do the math with any purchase - which means you should be aware of the cost thru DVC as well as the prices (including all associated costs) available thru resale. One-size-fits-all does NOT work with resales.

Enjoy!
