Hello! I am newly engaged (5/18/16 during Illuminations :lovestruc) and we are planning a WDW wedding and honeymoon! I am a WDW veteran, but I've really only ever been on family vacations- not much romance!! Even our engagement trip was with my parents, aunt, brothers, and fiancee's 6-year-old- so not much time for romantic things!

So what are your favorite experiences? So far I have California Grill/Wishes from the Contemporary, Cinderella's Table during fireworks, couples' massage the day before the wedding, Le Cellier, San Angel Inn, Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, an evening at the Boardwalk, Illuminations Dessert Party (since we got engaged during that show! it is now very special to us) and a carriage ride at POR or FW as possibilities. I'm willing to spend a little money, but nothing too outrageous!

We will be there in December 2017 and staying at the Yacht Club.

Thanks!

Just a word of "caution": If you're hoping to be at CRT during fireworks for VIEWING, I don't think you'll see much at all.

You might consider it a bit lame, but we love contemplating our future together on the descent on Spaceship Earth and the fountains in World Showcase. Epcot is our happy place. We got married Sept 4th 2015 and we are middle aged people so there's that.

Buzz Lightyear Astroblasters at DisneyQuest. There is something about being in a small vehicle working together to fire balls at people....

But Epcot is my Happy Place and just the 15 minutes before Illuminations holds a special place for me.

My wife and I have been there many times together. We've been there twice alone...first time was before we had kids and second time was on our 10th anniversary (now on 16+ years). Every other time has been with the kids, but even then we've always either had a local babysitter or a live in nanny who travelled with us, so we had/have nights out. We've never looked at WDW from the "romantic" side, though I have zero doubt whatsoever that it can be very romantic. We look at it as a fun, magical getaway for us. Having said that, I'd say the most romance we've had at WDW would be:
1. Dinner at Seven Dragons in Epcot. Nothing particularly romantic about it per se, but just dining alone in a quiet place is nice.
2. Sitting on those bench swings on the beach outside the Yacht Club/Beach Club at night. We never even knew about this area until our babysitter told us about it. On our last trip, we walked out of Epcot through IG and strolled along the beach, then sat in one of those swings. Even more fun was that we then met back up with our kids and we all watched fireworks from there.

We did the carriage ride at POR a couple years ago. I had Mears transportation send a town car to pick us up at our resort, take us to POR, and then after the carriage ride, we took the boat taxi to DTD, sorry, Disney Springs, and then had a romantic dinner there.

I do not know if they still do this.......but way back in Nov 1977, we spent most of our honeymoon at WDW (mind you not many did back then). I had them arrange for balloons and a big, I mean big (like 30" X 42") Wedding card signed by characters in the room for my wife. a bottle of wine and glasses to sit and enjoy on the poly veranda.

The CMs also sent a additional card and free tickets for the midnight side wheeler couples cruise. (also the sidewheeler is gone now).

Worth checking into!

My husband and I are not romantic people at ALL, but there we did agree that having dinner at Calig Grill during Wishes on our honeymoon was the best thing we did. Wishes has become very special to us since that trip.

We did our honeymoon at Disney 2 years ago.

California Grill during wishes was one of the highlights of the trip. Amazing views and California Grill went over the top to make the meal special.

We did Cinderella's table for breakfast and did not enjoy it at all. Not romantic, it was very rushed. We also didn't like Le Cellier. It was noisy and busy. We didn't find the food overly spectacular.

We did really enjoy breakfast at Tusker House and lunch at the Sci-Fi dinner. We really liked Be Our Guest too. But I love Beauty and the Beast so it was more for the detail than anything else.

I don't know if there was anything overly romantic. We just took our time, slowed down and really enjoyed Disney. We spent a lot of time trying to find Hidden Mickey's and kept count who could find more. Also stopped by the Christmas shop and picked out an ornament for our tree.

For me, one of the most romantic things we did was walk down Main Street USA holding hands at 2am. :lovestruc Riding the carousel at night is pretty darn romantic, too.

I LOVE MK at night ~ the twinkling lights in the trees in the Hub, the softer glow of lights in Frontierland, the neon reflections in Tomorrowland...*sigh*.

I love everyone's ideas!

I know that the firworks view isn't that spectacular from CRT, but it still seems that it might be romantic? We have seen/will get to see Wishes many other times so not too worried about missing the whole show that night. It just seems nice to see a few fireworks from those beautiful windows, no?

Glad to know that Le Cellier can be loud- neither of us have ever been and we weren't sure of the atmosphere. May end up skipping that one! DF can get very overwhelmed and anxious without quiet breaks during the day, and for us that break is usually a nice long meal at a quiet place.

How is the atmosphere at Coral Reef? I have been there, but it was years ago and I do not remember if it was loud or not.

Anyone have suggestions for other quiet and/or darker restaurants?

There is no view *at all* from CRT. You'll only hear the fireworks, not see any of them.

So, I have been on adults-only trips the last two times at WDW (me, my husband and his sister). We didn't get much alone time outside of being in our room on either trip, but romance was still had!

- the People Mover at night during Wishes. Love, love, love! Even though my SIL was with us, we were all captivated.
- the very first time we saw Celebrate the Magic. It was just me and my husband (and hundreds of other people) watching from the bridge over by Liberty Square. I will never forget it (even though it's not a great viewing spot).
- we LOVE the Laugh Floor. It's our thing. Laughing with my husband is my favorite thing to do.
- a quiet morning at MK. We got ginormous iced beverages from the Starbucks/Main Street Bakery, sat under the umbrellas by the Plaza and just relaxed for an hour. Bliss!

We were staying at WL last year and had dinner at late dinner at California Grill so we ended up on one of the last boats on the WL, Contemporary, & FW loop.
The boat was empty; only the captain and us. The late night breeze, the stars, the lake, the twinkling lights of the boat, the lodge on the horizon...ir was so simple yet romantic! I would suggest a late boat ride, it's free and you can find many boats on properties to take. :)

Make out in front of strangers on Characters in Flight balloon at Dis Springs.... They will either clap or throw you overboard. Its really a coin toss

seriously though.... I popped the question at WDW and the next day we spent all afternoon walking around World Showcase holding hands and sampling the food and drinks of the countries. It was nice....

Just be careful out there - one of my children was conceived on a vacation at Walt Disney World!
