Over the years we have been staying at the Boardwalk and Beach Club.
We own at the Beach Club. I love the area but my kids this coming trip would like to try WL. Will I be dissapointed ? Dennis

Hey Dennis,
If you head over to the dvc miscellaneous form there is an entire thread we call "VWL groupies". It's got all kinds of cool info and pictures from our merry band of moose heads that luv VWL but I'll give you my short version.
BTW my home resort is also the BCV's.

1) I want to warn you it's a different flavor than the BC. The theming here is intense. It has a "jaw dropping effect" from the moment you step into the lobby.
2) I find the vwl very soothing and relaxing. From the landscaping to the music in the lobby it simply soothes my soul. I love starting my day on my balcony or even in the massive lobby with the paper and a cup of joe, watching the world come awake.
3) My kids loved the pool but it's smaller than stromalong bay. When we were there in August, the cm's had a lot of pool games organized for the kids (volley ball, water horse racing) it was great.
4) Transportation is good. There is a direct boat to MK warning: the boat only takes about 10 minutes to get there, but it is a slow leisurely ride. Some folks don't like this but it is meant to go slow. Sit back and enjoy, there is nothing better than passing the beautiful Grand Floridian on your way to MK. The other parks have direct buses which I found to run efficiently and often.

You'll love it.

You very well might be disappointed, if the reason you stay at BCV and BWV is for easy walking to two parks. At VWL, you will have easy boat access to MK and bus to all other WDW destinations.

Or if you really like Stormalong Bay pool at BCV. The pool at WL is nice but isn't in the same league as SAB, and doesn't have a great slide like BWV. Still, kids tend to enjoy whatever pool they're in!

From my signature, you can see that like Eliza I too am a VWL Groupie! :) But I also know that it isn't for everyone. The decor is about as opposite to BCV as you can imagine with darker earthtone colors vs the light & breezy BCV decor.

So I can't really tell you if you'll be disappointed unless you tell us what is important to you in a WDW resort. If it is location to EPCOT/MGM or light colored decors, then you may be disappointed. If it is great accommodations and amenities, then I don't think you will be disappointed.

Tell me why we should stay at WL

Because your kids say so!!

I'd say go ahead and give it a whirl. Your kids may have a hidden talent for picking great new adventures in resorts! And you might just find out that it adds a new wrinkle to your WDW vacationing. :)

I've got to agree with Eliza61. We own at BCV and love it, however we could not get in for the MNSSHP in OCT. 06 so we tried WLV. Our 10 and 7 year olds were with us and they loved it. It's different from the Epcot area, but good different. It's very themed, but it is truly amazing! The Trans is good. I would stay again. Take the tour. The guide is very sweet.

You won't be disappointed. Stay there. Leaves more room at BCV. :lmao:

You have got to stay during the holidays. :santa: Its absolutely beautiful!

I feel better now and I am almost willing to give it a try.
Blessings, Dennis

I'll volunteer to take your kids to the WL ! (if u don't mind ;) )
I'll look for any reason to stay there !

I own at both...VWL is way more theme intensive and for us laid back. We are doing a split stay in about a week they are both nice. I personally enjoy SSR and VWL over BCV or BWV because they tend to immerse you in the resort where BCV I feel more immersed in Epcot area....not a bad thing at all but not preferred to us.

We hop to CR and take the monorail to MK and Epcot.
