Tell me what you think - Planning By Myself - Without DW Knowing

"Honey?, Honey is that YOU?!?!"......Wishing really hard....

Ah, well. A girl can dream, can't she?

Seriously, how fun! Creating such a surprise is truly an act of love, especially when it is something that you know she would love and enjoy.

And kudos for being so resourceful on Ebay.

Oh i forgot to say, I am giving it to her via a scrapbook. It will have pictures of all the places we are going (thanks to disboards) and all the gift cards and traverlers's checks and MVMCP passes.

OK, that's it. I can't take it anymore! You want to know what I think....I think you are a wonderful and generous husband. You putting together this fabulous scrapbook just blows my mind. What a lucky wife you have. I just want to say that you are doing a fantastic job.

WILL YOU MARRY ME??????????????

OH DARN -- we both are already married!!!

kvogel11202 -- maybe you and I are married to the same man instead????

Although to be fair, DH goes along with all the plans I make so ... guess I'll have to keep him but somewhere along the line I went wrong and I was meant to marry a Disneyholic and Father Christmas and I wound up with the Grinch but he does have a heart so ... OK, I'll keep him but I wish he would get some ideas like this ...

Great job in planning, your plan really looks good, and DW and DD will certainly be surprised. There will be allot to see at that time of year so you will want to review the holiday schedule to determine what you want to focus on seeing and map it into your schedule. Enjoy your trip.

Thank you for all your wonderful reponses, but i am the lucky one to have my DW. My DD2 is constantly on the go, so keeping her busy is the only way she would have fun.

And I am in love with Disney as much as she is.

Does anyone else have any comments about what i have booked?

oh, one more thing...does anyone else have any feedback on the HDDR or CRT? These are my two signature places, and i think my daughter will like them, but now I am starting to doubt my choices.

First, I think what you're doing is great. I'm also glad you're telling your DW a month in advance so she can have a little fun with the planning on your Christmas trip as well as the April trip. I also agree with another of the posters who suggested upgrading your tickets to either 10 day non-expiry or an AP. You can still get dining with a one day ticket.

With respect to your choices, I think they're all great and very enjoyable. I think, however, that your DD2 will not find the HDDR as entertaining as an older child. I would save that for a later trip and not waste the extra TS on that.

Your family is fortunate.

I think your choices are good for entertainment value, I think some folks question if you are getting your money's worth on the dining plan by booking CRT and HDDR. For example CRT is 2 table service credits and so is California Grill, and believe me CRT is no CG. If treating your DD to CRT is more important to you than getting the most out of the dining plan, go for it.

Some of us are obsessed with milking the dining plan for all it's worth (to the point of sharing meals and pocketing TS credits for later use) . Ignore us and have a ball!!!!!!!!!!

We have eaten at CRT many times over the years (B,L,& D with the meal plan and without, but never as 2 TS credits), the atmosphere is fabulous, the food is good but not spectacular, I have found the service adequate. You should eat in the castle at least once. But you might want to wait untill DD will remember it and appreciate it. Like I said earlier, I have not eaten at CRT since they changed it to 2 table service credits, maybe the quality of the food has gone up also.

If i give up one, i am going to drop the HDDR. What would you suggest as a good place to eat on Christmas Eve at WDW? (If I can get an ADR.)

Don't change a thing! At this point most good times at most restaurants are taken. We love HDDR. Your DD might not get into it, but you'll def enjoy it, it's lots of fun. Don't second guess yourself you did a great job!

I am smiling hugely right now!! :goodvibes

It sounds like you have a wonderful trip planned. CRT is fabulous - your dd will love it. FYI there are different princesses in Norway, so you might look into that for your April trip.

Christmas Eve...You might get some pixie dust and get an ADR at Liberty Tree Tavern with Mickey; its a turkey and dressing meal which just FEELS like Christmas. I agree that she might not truly appreciate HDDR right now, but it'll still be fun.

Lastly, we did Christmas Day at the MK last year and the crowds were truly unbearable by 2pm. We left after the parade and went to EPCOT, which was practically empty. My whole thing was seeing the parade at MK on Christmas, but it really wasn't worth it. I'd do it differently if I did it again. Just food for thought. :thumbsup2

Have fun!!! Oh, and btw, what does the XA stand for in your username??

It's very profound...xa is the car i drive.

A Scion xA...and i am a children's minister. (Probably why i get so much into Disney. I am just a child at heart).

I'm impressed. I'd fall over if my husband went to this much trouble and planned a vacation. I plan all our vacations (not that I'm complaining). I love planning them, but you know.........its really sweet!

You've done a wonderful job! Your DW and DD will be thrilled!! :thumbsup2

We were on the DDP on our last trip and we used 2 TS credits for CRT - I know a lot of people don't feel that it's a good use of the credits, but my DD loved seeing all the princesses and both DD and DS loved eating in the castle! It's a very special experience. Seeing her face as she spoke with all of them was worth 2TS to me! I believe that it is a must do for all little princesses! And as a PP said, pack her princess dresses - extra pixie dust!! pixiedust:

We also went to HDDR on another trip. It's great fun, but if you are going to change one, I think that would be the one I'd choose to change.

You are a very special person. Enjoy giving this surprise and then enjoy your trip!!

I wouldn't change a thing! You have some wonderful Memory-Makers planned there. My DS LOVED HDDR when he was a pre-schooler (of course, he dressed up like a Sheriff most days of his life from 2-5, long before Woody & Toy Story came out)

My DH surprised DS & I with a trip to WDW many moons ago (Christmas 1992, went in Feb 1993) That Magical Trip & the Memories we made together turned us all into LifeLong WDW Lovers.

My DH wrapped up a box with plane tickets, Ultimate ParkHoppers, a Birnbaum's, Orlando Magic Card & everything. He left the present with my Parents & told them not to let us open it until 2pm, Christmas Day. He was taking his Mom to visit relatives out of town. It was such an amazing, incredible, thoughtful gift. My family was just blown away, the whole lot of us cried.

Kudos to you & all the Great Husbands of the World! :cheer2:

Your wife will be so happy, as will your daughter. Sounds like you are a real blessing to your family. The only thing I can think of ,and this is from someone that was a SAH mom for a lot of years, I think your wife might like one adult type place for dinner. While all the CM are wonderful, they are all more about your DD. Planning one (I would too switch the HHDR) meal might make her feel specail. Tell her this meal is for her. Of course take DD too, all DDP resturants are fine for children. Perhaps one of the WS places or since HHDR is a signature place, you might want to think about CG, or another nicer resort resturant.
Can;t wait to hear what your wife says when you tell her.

(Oh and by the way, this will be my DD2's third trip to Disney.) We are raising her up right.

:rotfl: I love it! With a quote like this, I think you have just "Earned your Ears" on the DIS!!!

You are doing a wonderful, thoughtful thing. Your parents raised you up right!!! :lmao:

Nice! I love things like this - I did this for my family for our 2002 trip and literally sprung it on my wife the day before and our kids as we literally were leaving the house!

Fun stuff!
