My arm has been twisted, so I'm taking my dd for her 6th birthday. We're doing lunch, and I realize I'll be paying for the princess interaction and not the mediocre food.

I'd love to hear what menu selections others have actually enjoyed there. Include all three categories if you can (appetizer, entree and dessert).

Thanks so much for any and all input!

I had the onion soup to start. It was ok. I've had better, but I was having salad as an entree and didnt want salad twice. LOL For my entree I had rock shrimp cobb salad. It was good and HUGE. For dessert I had the apple crisp (or something like that). In my opinion it was way undercooked- think crunchy apples. I would go for the chocolate next time. My husband had the salad, which was good, but nothing special. Then the chicken pot pie. It was good, but a little heavy on some seasoning that he didnt care for. He ate it, but didnt love it. He had the chocolate for dessert.

I had the salad and pasta something.. It was alright and had the choc. cake. My husband had a salad and a burger as well as the choc. cake. Our daughter had the mac n cheese with octodog and she didn't eat it watch was a shock, but plus she was fighting not feeling so good that day as well

I just got a burger, salad and chocolate cake. It was okay. The best was the strawberry magarita:rotfl:

I had the onion soup, good, not great. Then the Salmon BLT. I loved it. It was an original dish and very tasty. Then some sort of peach cobbler for dessert. DH had the same but he doesn't eat dessert, he had Coffee with Baileys:rolleyes:

I always see so much bashing of the food at Ariels, but I enjoyed my meal immensely.:goodvibes

I am going with my 2 year old daughter - just the two of us... will she still be offered food? I don't think I pay for her, but I was just wondering about the menu, too. If we have to share, I will need to order something that I think she might eat!

What is this college for?

I had the onion soup, then the fish & chips. I enjoyed the soup, and the fish sticks were tasty enough that I couldn't stop eating them even when I was full. By the time dessert came around, I was too stuffed to even try eating my chocolate cake. In fact, none of us could eat our dessert, so we got them to go. I also had a couple of Cokes.

This was on 12/12 at 5:00pm or so. We had eaten lunch at the Plaza Inn, around 1pm, and I had gorged on the wonderful fried chicken dinner there; frankly, by the time our PS time of 4:20pm came for Ariel's, we really weren't that hungry. At 6pm, we had left DCA and were entering DL. The crowd had gathered for the parade, so we decided to immediately board the train and take it to New Orleans Square for some rides. We waited and waited for the train, but it just never would come (something about it being stuck behind the parade). At about 6:45, about an hour after we left Ariel's, I... um.... had to go.

I spent the next 45 minutes in the bathroom, while my poor family waited for me at the train stop. I don't know for sure it was the food at Ariel's... maybe it was just too much fried food in one day. For the record, my wife ate the same exact thing as me, and both of our kids had the kids'-sized fish & chips. None of them had the problems I had.

I was pretty much afraid to eat the rest of our trip, fearing a repeat occurrence. I never did eat my chocolate cake from Ariel's (my wife took care of that for me).

But everything tasted good!

i had the pasta and it was good, my friend had the salmon blt and said it was good. our server said to avoid the potpie because it was "unpredictable" and that the pasta was the most popular (after the burgers). My daughter did not like the mac and cheese, but the baby loved the fish sticks.

There are a whole lot of pictures from AG meals i the dining review thread.

Thanks for the tips everyone! Last time we went, she was a bit ill also. . You can see the poor little droopy eyes in all her pictures with the princesses.

I will be sure to order either the salad or the Salmon BLT! Those sound good. I'll stir DD away from the mac and cheese. . . I HATE IT!

hi, im just back from DL and enjoyed our third visit to Ariel's Grotto. And this was the first time the server actually told me that kids under 3 are free to order and their meal is free, so you don't have to share (unless you couldn't finish your own meal). the portion is not the same size though. they also get their own desert. my kids loved the apple crumb with vanilla ice cream. they weren't too into the yogurt fruit parfait, even though it looked fun.

I do the onion soup everytime, it's really good. My DBF does the salad and we share. :) I've had the pasta and the burger, both were good but the burger was a bit dry. I would eat it again though!! DBF has had the meatloaf and the Salmon BLT, he enjoyed them both as well. We have had the chocolate cake and the apple crisp for desserts and we loved them both! Yes, the apples are a bit crunchy but I actually like my apple crisp that way. :) We drank tea and sodas, no alcohol for us with lunch. :)

Princess Sitka-
My DD goes to Cal State Long Beach and works part time at Disneyland. If you are a college student and wish to enhance your curriculum, you can enroll in their College Program. It lasts nine months and consists of taking 4 classes (that transfer as credit to your main college), working part time in the parks (or hotels or anywhere in the resort), doing some volunteer projects/work and learning all about what it is like to work long-term for Disney. The graduation ceremony was really cute, They march down the isle, turn the tassle over on their ears and receive a certificate. Then Mickey comes out for a photo session. It was held in a ballroom at the Grand. Since my DD's dream is to be a marketing executive for Disney when she graduates in 2010, this program was ideal for her. She learned so much and enjoyed it very much. Plus it greatly increases her chances of being hired after graduation. The picture at the Grand is just that...a pic of DD in the lobby by the Christmas tree:) .

I had the fish and chips at Ariels twice now without consequence. They really do bring a lot of food and I am an eater. My DD hardly could even think about eating with all of the princess around, lol. She loved it. I think that seeing her react the princess' is the greatest. The Princess' do such a wonderful job with the little ones, it is a huge reason we are on our 2nd AP and 32 trips for her.

I get the pasta (which is alright). The chocolate cake is delicious. My dh went this last time and had the salmon blt (he was quite impressed) and said that it was very filling too.

We've only been to Ariel's Grotto once, but it was great as far as we were concerned. Hubby and I both had the salad, which was nothing special, but it was tasty, fish n chips which was actually pretty good, and the chocolate cake which was yummy. The kids had chicken and they both ate it, though they weren't really into the yogurt desserts. We would do it again.

Yeah, what's up with the kids' desserts now? Only thing offered is granny smith apples with carmel sauce and a yogurt parfait. I don't think dd will be thrilled with either since it is her special birthday meal. Can I request a "real" dessert for her?
