Tell me what I'm going to love about SSR

Wow...what's not to like about SSR? :)

It stunns me when I hear anybody say anything negative about it. I will be the first to complain if there is something I do not like at a resort but to be honest, I have stayed at SSR about 7 times now and everytime...we have had a wonderful time. For the record, we have stayed at ALL the Disney DVC properties onsite. Hands down, SSR is our fav. We have no particular park fav so being away from the parks is just fine with us.

We love the rooms/villas...great views...nice beds...good bus service (as in we didn't have to wait mroe than 15 minutes for one)....not sharing buses at the parks after a long day....Artist Palette...good food....Turf Club (the best 2 meals of our last trip...steak to die for!)...the CM's were great and very nice to talk with...the grounds...long walks...DTD nearby and shopping....riding the boat to DTD and then back...how relaxing...the spa...great massages....loved the pool and hottubs (very warm)...going to Pleasure Island for a fun evening out...having some great dinners in DTD...Community Hall....gosh I could go on and on....we truly had a great time.

Try to go with an open mind because if you set your mind on having a bad time...you probably will! I think you might be surprised (as others on here have stated) Please post here and let us know how your trip went. I hope you have a SUPER time. :cool1:

pixie dust for a great trip...

We had toured the resort a few years ago but hadn't stayed there as our home resorts are BWV and VWL. Frankly, had it not been for an unexpected need to use up some points in holding, we might never have tried SSR. However, we added on a Friday and Saturday night at SSR to our last trip as it was the only resort available.

I am so glad we stayed there as we loved it. The grounds were beautiful, the proximity to DTD was fun and a very nice walk, the activities were plentiful, the movies at the main pool were a unique activity, the Artist Palette was a nice change from having nothing similar at BWV, and we found the bus transportation to be good.

It's a resort that is made for slowing down and relaxing, yet still maintains a quiet elegance. We could have easily spent both days just exploring the beautiful grounds. The nightime view of DTD is just stunning.

We stayed in Congress Park, but next time we would love to try the Grandstand with its proximity to the Carriage House and own pool area.

You really will have a wonderful time at SSR! :)

Just got back from a week at SSR. I used to be a BW & BC only DVCer. Well this past Sept we stayed at OKW, which I loved, and then this trip we were "stuck" with SSR (We own at SSR). Well, I am now a SSR or OKW only DVCer. SSR was so relaxing. We had dinner at the Yacht Club one night and just the sheer chaos in the lobby was enough to make me never want to go back. The beds are phenomanal, and the the Turf Club was the best meal we had all week (we also dined at Le Celier, Biergarten, Yacht Club Galley, and Hollywood Brown Derby ~ all great in their own right). I just loved the overall relaxation factor, the adequate busing, and the calm feel of SSR. Cannot wait to go back! :thumbsup2

I cant agree with you more. The relaxation is at another level when you stay at ssr. At first i was kinda worried about not being right on the parks, but when I didnt wake to children running down the halls it was all worth it. The pool was not over crowded, and I could literally walk to downtown disney. You really can't beat that.

Going to SSR for the first time in late Jan.'08. Any suggestions as to a certain building or area to stay in (or avoid). Staying in 1 BR with college aged sons. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks...Mary

With college-age kids you'll probably want to stay at Congress Park. It has it's own quiet pool which, in my experience, doesn't have a lot of little kids running around (they're usually at the main pool or at Grandstand). The walk to DTD from Congress Park is a breeze, and the view of DTD from many of the rooms in Congress Park is great at night!
