Tell me more about the DLH!!

thanks for that! Of course when you come out into DCA you are halfway to TSMM and that's the only reason I would consider that. When we were there in July, the wait first thing in the morning was at least an hour, and we practically ran from the gate. Had we used the GCH entrance we would have been in line with those people already there when we arrived. I'll be scouting that out the next time we stay at DLH, this trip we are at CCI. but we will be for the first week of January as well, and apparently it's very quiet then so I'm hoping to do TSMM more than once, I loved it!! (and I beat hubby's score quite soundly!! LOL...)

Yeah, it was definitely handy to use the DCA entrance in GCH when we went in October (we stayed at the PPH so we took that crossing-the-street to the GCH lobby route!). And we also darted right to TSMM. Actually, it was more of a controlled walk, but still, we got there a few minutes before the people at the front gate got there, so we made good time to the line - only to have the ride break down before we got on it! So we ended up having to wait a while anyway for it to come back up, but we were still ahead of a lot of other people. I keep hearing mixed reviews on what the crowds are like at DLR this month. Some say it is not nearly as busy as it normally would be at this time of year, some say it is super busy but only at specific times and then it slows down again. One person said they only had a 10-minute wait on TSMM. Others have said the line was mega-long! There seems to be no rhyme or reason to the holiday crowds this year because of the economy! So when I go in two weeks, I don't know whether to expect a 10-minute wait for TSMM, or a 1-hour wait!

My TSMM score was not good the first time, and my friend beat me, but one of the next times we were on it my score more than doubled (so I felt like I was getting the hang of it), and I beat my other friend! As long as I can see improvement in my scores, then I keep at it. When I see no improvement - like on Buzz Lightyear, I never get my scores up - I get discouraged!

Kim- Glad you had a great time! I am so excited to leave in the morning!

As far as the coffee in the lobby, do they have lids and flavored creamers? I hear it's really good coffee so I want to take some with me into the parks.

Not sure about the coffee, as I don't drink it. Weird I know. I must be like the only adult on the planet who doesn't drink coffee. Oh, and DH too.

As for TSMM, Fri.. night around 5pm, the wait was under 30 min. Sat. AM at RD, we were in the front, so no wait - in the first hour it was less than 30 min. Sat. night around 5pm, it was about 20 min. Monday morning, we were near first at RD, and the line stayed at 10 min (or less) for the first hour. AWESOME! We rode 3 times. About 11am, it was up to about 20 min. so we stopped.

I said I was glad I don't live close with an AP because I would take the kids to school and go ride TSMM all day - the weekday line was so short!

Have fun!!! Go to the Cove pool, it is so warm!

Kim :)

Lids--yes. Flavored creamers--I don't think so. They have the dry creamers (I think) and my favorite is that they offer real 1/2 and 1/2 or milk. I love real cream in my coffee.

No flavored cream when we were there. We are really picky coffee drinkers, maybe it was just the day we tried it, but it was extremely weak coffee, we went and bought ours at the coffee shop instead.... their coffee is amazing!! :) you can also request a coffee maker in your room, then make your own and get the to go cups and lids from downstairs. Have fun!

Bummer, ok we will check out the gift shop coffee.
Thanks all!!!

We were there Thanksgiving week and I was pleasantly surprised at the coffee quality! We were in the Dreams tower. I get my coffee pretty early so maybe that makes a difference?

Dreams tower on our way to our mm, so nice and early...it was just really weak. But that's the thing with coffee, it can be so different with different people making it. Better weak than too strong though! and it was fresh! 22 days to go!! :yay: :cheer2: :dance3:

:lmao: Well, who knows then? But have to disagree about better too weak than too strong! There is no cure for too weak. Too strong (if there is such a thing with hotel coffee) just needs more cream :goodvibes.

I am not positive about this, but was told the coffee at Compass Bookstore next door (which is very good and I think what smiley was referencing) is Peet's. I know the coffee at La Brea Bakery (right before you get to the security station) is Starbucks. Everything else in the resort, from what I've heard, is some version of Nescafe, although certain places use a special blend of beans that is very good (not sure about the whole list, but it includes places in GCH, Steakhouse 55, BB).

Yes, actually I agree.... I just add a little hot water when it's too strong! what was I thinking???:confused3 lol...

Not a coffee drinker myself, but I read another poster refering to Nescafe as Nescaca. Cracked me up!:lmao: :rotfl:

We're here now and I couldn't be happier. Crowds are low, we walk on to almost all rides. Nemo was a 30 min wait but IASW was a walk on, as well as HM and POTC, to name a few.

Remeber the something "special"...THE BEST PART...they upgraded us to a Mickey Mouse themed suite from a standard room!!!! I just asked at the front desk to be in the dreams tower and that's what they gave us. We are having a blast and I will elab. when we get back.

I had a feeling it would be an upgrade or a free meal! That's great! I bet that suite is adorable! Take pictures! And I KNOW you are enjoying a good meal at Goofy's on this trip, too, so be sure to tell me if they are really crazy busy or not - since I will be there very soon! I just called Reservations a while ago to ask them something about my plan for next week, and I asked the girl on the phone if there was still quite a bit of availability THIS MONTH, right now, at all three hotels, and she said YES! Normally, at this time, things are all booked. But bookings are down a bit, so they, I would guess, may be upgrading several people here and there for free, and probably offering the extra night's stay at a LOW price!

I am glad to hear crowds were reasonable! I think crowds are down too!

That is so awesome!!! What a very special time for you both, I hope you will share some pictures with us! :thumbsup2
PCHoffman is there on his honeymoon right now.... I hope they get something really special too! :)

You're on the same floor as the pirate suite if you walk to the other end of the hall to the left are the double doors to the suite which are themed to pirates. You hit the jackpot getting the mickey penthouse as it's 3000 a night like pirates. Congrats what a way to kick off Christmas

Umm, ya no penthouse!!! We got the Mickey themed suite. It's 2 bedrooms, one is the same as a standard and the other is a kids room all decked out in mickey stuff. It's awesome!

Just got back from DLH. I was not impressed. We stayed at GCH last year and I think that spoiled it. The ac was noisy, you have to scan thru all the channels on the tv remote instead of putting in the channel you want, and at 9:00 pm they were cleaning the hallway carpets. This was followed by loud blowers running in order to dry it. But on the other hand we were in the Magic tower with a fireworks view. I didn't know and nearly missed them until my daughter came running in the bathroom to tell me. Next time I think we will stay at the GCH again.:santa:
