I have been to WDW three times in my life, all with family. The first time was around 1991 when I was 10 staying at CBR. The second was around 1997 staying at OKW where my Aunt and Uncle have had DVC for ages. The third was around 2003, also at OKW, over the holidays. I enjoyed these trips very much but have never been 'die-hard Disney'.
My girlfriend of two years has never been to any Disney park.
Last year, that topic was brought up and I half-jokingly said that we should go together. Naturally, she jumped on board immediately and we planned a trip to POP for this coming October that never materialized. Around June I looked at my availability and accumulated time off and decided that we could pull off a Disney vacation after all. I ended up booking a 5-night stay at POFQ for late February. It looks romantic and laid back and perfect for us. We're excited.
Of course, upon booking POFQ, I got the itch...
...So last week I booked us a 3-night stay at YC for my birthday in September of next year.
Was it ridiculous of me to book the second vacation before even beginning the first one? Girlfriend is excited about both trips and we can swing it both financially and with accrued time off. POFQ is completely paid for. YC only has the deposit paid so I have no real risk since I can cancel anytime over the next year.
I know that I really enjoyed my previous trips to WDW and, although much has changed, so much of what I loved is still present. I know that my girlfriend is going to have a blast.
But a part of me still thinks I'm crazy for booking YC without exposing us to the WDW of today first.
Am I being ridiculous?
