woke up early and started worrying I made a mistake on my tickets

I bought from UT mousesaver link 8 day wp.hopper non expire tickets for $458.95

I want to upgrade to a PAP.

when I bought my tickets I knew they were $2.00 more(the retail price) than the DVC PAP listed at allears, but that price difference was still the cheapest way to go(best savings like $46 with the extra $2.00 payment), but when I was woken up this am I got to thinking maybe overpaying they wont let me upgrade? But then maybe allears pap is not including tax so i am ok?

Please tell me I didn't mess up...?

Ok, found the PAP at the membership site and with tax it's $504.83

the value of what i bought is $506.94 , so am I ok or not?

Hi Pickles!

I think that you are fine... and if you are not.... we are in the same boat!

We bought the (now I can't remember if it was the 7 or 8) day wp pass. Will upgrade like you to PAPs. I think that we figured that we will need to pay like $20-$30 to upgrade to PAPs.

You should be able to upgrade, the only thing would be would they refund you if you overpaid? If it is only $2/pp then it is still a great savings, right?

When are you going? We could go to guest services at the same time. :goodvibes

I know they wonlt refund..I expected that on the $2.00, just was worried they wouldn;t let me do it.

I saved the DVC discount plus $46(with losing the $2.) and that is per person 4 people and the kids ticket, UTmoussavers had a mistake and so i also saved the DVC pap discount and like $42 off the kid ticket..altogether it is around a $230 savings from mousavers and the dvc discount..that is like $100 a ticket or something..that helps cover my MF for this year!!

this is assuming, I didn;t mess up..I think I will be ok

I am new to all this so can you explain to me how you upgrade tickets to AP.
I am going to buy tickets at UT 7day park hoppers. Can I upgrade them to AP when we get to Disney in December? Could I save money doing this? If so how? Thanks. I hope I am not being to confusing:upsidedow I just want to learn all the ways to save at Disney cause I know that there are not too many ways. :)

the theory is you buy discounted tickets at someplace like undercover tourist..use the link you get from mousesavers sign up for their monthly email

then from that link, buy tickets.

then, use your ticket at least once and that ticket becomes that value of whatever that ticket would be if you walked up to the disney window. However to use it for a AP or PAP it must be an upgrade from what you bought. so like I know I wanted water park option(PAP for the upgrade), so I knew I could get tickets that had best savings even if they had wp and more options.

If you only want to upgrade to AP make sure the tickets you get don;t include water park and more.

when you buy from UT mousesaver link it does list the amount off they are giving per ticket and be sure to compare with the disney window price, so you don;t go over the AP price, as they won;t refund money. Hope that makes sense.

My only worry was what i bought has a higher window value than the PAP, by $2. while I know I can;t get a refund, I am hoping they consider that an upgrade.

I'm a little dense, I guess! :confused3 Will someone please help me understand?

1. What is the price of an AP with DVC discount? Where would you buy it?

2. Are you saying you can save money if you buy a regular ticket first (through a discounted source), then use it at least one day, then upgrade it? Where would you buy it and where would you upgrade it?

In our case we want a regular AP (no water parks.) Is the cheapest way to do that...
Buy the ticket with the biggest discount (hoppers, but no waterparks) that does not exceed the cost of the AP with DVC discount?

I love when I learn something new! Especially when it may involve saving money! Thank you!

I have the same questions + one more...ok maybe 2 more

Does the AP then start on the day you upgrade or does it retro back to the day you first used it?
Does that first day somehow become "free"?

The year of AP admission is backdated to the day you first used the MYW ticket.

No.

Currently, the price of an adult DVC-discounted annual pass is $392.99. That includes tax.

You can buy the discounted pass anywhere an AP is sold. Just be prepared to show a photo ID and your DVC membership card.

If you buy online or through a call to MS, you will receive a voucher. You need to exchange the voucher for the actual pass at an on-site Guest Relations booth. You'll have to show a photo ID and your DVC membership card when you do the exchange. In this case, the year starts on the day you do the exchange. Do not buy in advance if you want to do an upgrade from a MYW ticket. The CMs are not supposed to give refunds.

2. Are you saying you can save money if you buy a regular ticket first (through a discounted source), then use it at least one day, then upgrade it?
Yes.

Where would you buy it and where would you upgrade it?
There are several reputable online brokers that sell discounted MYW tickets. If you ask on the Theme Parks Forum or the Budget Forum, you will get lots of suggestions. In the meantime, check out the DIS info/offering:

Discount WDW TIckets

Yes. Note that as long as you do not use any of the waterpark options, you can also upgrade a ticke twith the waterpark option to a regular AP.

Be sure to check out the thread on the Theme Parks Forum. I posted a direct link to it in post #6 above. It was written by a very knowledgeable CM. It has the answers to almost all of your questions.

I wonder why you want to upgrade to a PAP and not just an AP. Since they've gutted (effectively) Pleasure Island, I don't think a PAP is worth it. I can buy a water park annual + an AP for less cost than a PAP, for example. Unless you want to do Disney Quest...

You got me excited by this, because we only ever use the water park portion of our PAP.

I can't get the math to work out, though. Are you finding the water park annual pass at a discount somewhere? The price I found for it on MouseSavers is $106.45. With the DVC discount, the difference between a PAP and an AP is only $105.

Thanks so much Carol!
I did look at your link. It was a lot to weed through since I have a 4yr old, 2yr old, and 10 week old--so no attention span. No wonder I'm easily confused!

Oh my! My 45 year old sister (also a doctor) just had twins, so I can easily imagine how busy your household must be.

Congratulations on your new one - have fun on the trip!
