Tell me all about the Beach Club!

Because I am an Epcot Resorts Area freak (I feel like I'm in the middle of nowhere if I don't stay in the Epcot Resorts Area), I just switched my reservations over from the AKL to the Beach Club. I've been inside the resort several times (I've eaten at Beaches and Cream several times as well as the Cape May Cafe), so I'm familiar with the layout of the lobby, etc. What are the rooms like? Do all rooms have a balcony or patio? I have a standard room booked - is there a specific floor/location I should request? Have all rooms had a fridge installed yet?

We just returned from the YC. I know it's not specifically the BC, but we had the most wonderful time there!! I was told that all rooms at the YC had fridges, so I would assume the same is true at the BC. I think all the rooms at BC have balconies/patios. I noticed, however, that many of them have tiny balconies. Basically just a railing outside the door. One person could probably stand there, but that's about it. I would be sure to request a room with a full balcony/patio if that's important to you. We loved the YC and since most of the common areas are shared with the BC, we spent a lot of time enjoying both resorts. I don't see how you could go wrong with the BC.

Just got back from a standard view room. We were in a courtyard on the first floor, around the corner from the Marketplace, great location! My dd and I have a new favorite resort. Pool was awesome. Ther fridge was a litle smaller than the one we had a FQ, it's tucked into the dresser. But there were some nice slide-out shelves next to it. We had the friendliest mousekeeper (Yvonne). She left Pal Mickey and friends set up watching tv every day. Wonderful, wonderful place. If it had more choices for quick foods (the Marketplace was very limited menu, as was Beaches and Cream take-out), it would have been everything we could have ever wanted!

We have stayed at both and Loved both of the resorts. I don't think you can really compare them because the themes of both resorts are totally different.
BC was just great all around and the pool was the best I have ever seen. And it was neat being so close to Epcot.
The service and CM,s were friendly in both resorts.
AKL is wonderful to because just to be able to walk out of your room and see animals so close is different from any other resort in the US.
I thought AKL buses were fine over all because even though you have longer ride because of distance to parks, well to me it was shorter then taking BC buses because BC shared with serveral other hotels so it took longer most of the time. So don't make you choice on bus rides for stay at resorts like others have done because overall the times for each really equal about the same.
You can't go wrong with either resort it just depends of if you would rather have a beach kind of theme or animal kind of theme.

Yes, some of the rooms have teensy balconies at BC and I believe there are rooms with none at all so I would also request a full balcony.

Some of the standard rooms overlook roof area and some face the BCV in addition to those already listed. There are also some that face a woodlands area (I think that is what it is called). Twice we had rooms with that view years ago and I liked it very much. Very private in those days. Now people use that back walk more but it is still a nice view IMHO....you actually face toward Epcot. The downside of those rooms is that it is a longer walk to the common areas. But you are closer to Epcot.

I think the bus situation is better than it was. The buses aren't always shared now. I took a bus to Y&BC from MK in March and was back 15 minutes after I walked up to the bus stop. It only shared with YC. This ws probably around 1pm.

In May, I took the bus from AK to Y&BC. I waited only a couple of minutes before a bus pulled up and asked me where I wanted to go. A family walked up and we were off. We did stop at the Swan & Dolphin but just long enough to ascertain that no one wanted to board. I didn't time that trip but I don't think it was longer than 20 minutes.
