I managed to grab a special edition b60 model keurig at Walmart the other day for my husband for Christmas for $97.00. They price matched Canadian tires weekend price sale, I paid an extra $10 for the extended warranty ( adds an extra yr of "exchangeability" onto the product so if something goes wrong within two yrs, I just have to take it in for a replacement. Thought it was a good thing to buy, because I've read many reviews of those machines breaking down in the first yr....as much as ppl love them, they seem to have some issues! I hope mine is "lemon-free" :rotfl:
I am very excited to try it out, I am not a coffee drinker, however I am interested in it for tea or hot chocolate. It will be nice to brew hubby a cup of coffee and not have waste. Can you tell me why you love your machines? Any tips or tricks or insider advice for a keurig newbie? :)
What drinks do you like best? Any tips would be great!
Thanks..

the B70's are the ones that seem to have the most problems & Keurig has great customer service.

I love my keurig, I am the only one in my house who drinks coffee had a pod coffee maker first. So it make sense for my house. The hot chocolate kcups are good I like the dark Chocolate ones, love the apple cider ones. Tap the Chocolate kcups on the counter first to lossed up the powder in the cup

I use my keurig for hot water tonight wanted some hot tea use tea bags not kcups-used it like a hot water dispener.

In the USA we register our machine & get a buy 2 boxes get 2 free code, not sure about canada but you might want to check into that.

I don't remember how i lived before my Kuerig machine! I use it a lot just for the hot water and still use the Tea Bags and packets of hot chocolate (they are cheaper than the pods). My dad is obsessed with the dark magic coffee pods and that's all that is on his xmas list this year (again). It's a great investment and it believe it or not it does save you tons of money, my dad was a regular 7-11 coffee junkie, was on a starbucks kick for awhile which is why we got him the machine and he's saved tons of money & time! Our home one hasn't broken (it's almost 3 years old), but the one in my mothers office at work did and all she did was send the company a particular part of the broken machine and they sent her a brand new one in a week!

Well I am a big coffee drinker, and still drink a full pot each day. No waste.
The K-cups are expensive, so I don't use it everyday.
I like the Chai Latte best of all the kinds I have tried.
I make very good coffee with my expresso machine and make better coffee with my Melita coffee maker than anything from the Keurig.
I use my microwave to heat water for tea and hot cocoa. I like it hotter than the Keurig gets it.

I love my Keurig!!! Ive bought every flavor they make LOL But now in these economic times I cant justify $.50 for each cup of coffee so I bought the adapter and use regular coffee for pennies a cup. When company is over I break out the kcups just for the convenience and variety LOL. Another hint if you don't want to pay big bucks for flavored coffees: buy the flavored coffee syrups...very inexpensive and they last a long time! :thumbsup2

DH gave me a Keurig this year for my birthday since I drink many cups of coffee every day. He doesn't drink coffee, but he loves it more than I do. He has several cups of hot tea and hot chocolate each day, and he really likes the chai tea and dark chocolate. I enjoy making a cup of coffee when I get home from work and want only 1 cup, but I use my old coffee maker every morning and after dinner since I drink several cups then. It's great when we have company so everyone can have his/her choice of beverages with no waste.

I love ours. We are on our 2nd one though - replaced under the warranty. And they do seem to fail quite often, so even with Keurig's great customer service, I think that extra year of warranty will be a good thing.

The water is very hard here, so I buy gallons of distilled water to fill our resevoir.

I love mine. I am the only one in the house that drinks coffee, so it has been wonderful for me, it is fast and easy peasy to use. I bought the hot chocolate and I have not decided if I like it or not. I bought DH the apple cider, but he hasn't tried one yet.

I have found that the k-cups are about half the price at the Commissary and I had a $2.00 coupon, so I got a box of 12 for $4.29. I haven't checked Target or any other grocery stores yet. I want some of the Dunkin cups.

i loved mine,,,,,that is until i got a tassimo :) if you like espresso, lattes, or mochas get a tassimo... i got mine at bed bath and beyond with a 20% off coupon. they have less selection for coffee's than keurig but they do have coffee as well.

We just got ours last weekend at Costco.
We love it!!!

If anyone is really interested in one, Costco is the place to grab one now.

We got the Platinum Kuerig, 60 coffee/tea pods, the K-cup pod (to put your own coffee in instead of the pre-filled pods.)

IT WAS $149.99!!!!!

The machine is $179.99 at most places and the 60 pods are $39 at Bed Bath and Beyond, The K-cup is $21.99 by itself as well.

We have one at work... Love it!

I got one at home for Xmas last year.... I think it may have died--but I haven't put the time or the energy into really looking at it to possibly fix it. I have a pretty hefty supply of Alice in Wonderland tea from our trip, so I'm not really worried about it--until I run out of that :scared1:

I love hot chocolate, cafe mocha, and english breakfast tea!!

I fill mine with bottled water.

Give them a call... they have GREAT customer service!

We just got the cuisinart ss70 I think that comes with a reusable k cup. I love the idea of single brew a coffee without cleaning out expresso machine each time (we usually drink americanos or frenchpress) But I know I will still use french press when time permits. I think its great for morning.

Thanks for all the replies so far :goodvibes the only downside I can see is, I went to bed bath and beyond last night to look at accessories/ kcups.....holy moly are they ever pricey! A pack of holiday flavors was $35.00 .... It had a variety of choices, and one white chocolate mint (maybe I would like that one? I am a cappaciono/ hot chocolate gal myself) ..... That is the the only thing I find a little overwhelming, the amount of choices and the prices of the k cups! I wish the "my k cup" got better reviews as many people seem to complain that they leak or don't work well....I could see that saving a lot of money if it where feasible
I hope we love this machine, I am excited to start playing with my hubby's new toy, :rotfl:

When I registered the Keurig at the website they sent me a buy 2 get 2 free code and free shipping. For 96 k-cups it was $29 and change. Kohls has sales with a coupon all the time that makes the price more tolerant.

I love love love my Keurig; we bought ours just over two years ago and have used it steadily ever since. I love the variety of K-Cups---even though they technically have expiry dates, I don't believe they ever really go stale so I keep myself well stocked up. When I bought the Keurig a friend who also has one gave me a tremendous amount of KCups to try and I still have some of those and they still taste great.

The KCups can be expensive for sure, but I used to buy a big variety of ground coffee when we used a regular coffeemaker and I was forever throwing away half a bag of stale coffee grounds, which was a big waste of money. I'm positive using the Keurig has saved me $$$, even considering the price of the KCups. Maybe if I didn't like variety this wouldn't be true, but for my buying habits, the KCups work out so much better. (My friend I mentioned above will also go in halfsies with me on boxes of Kcups, which is great.)

We live in Toronto and so are close to the border; I find the KCups are cheaper in the States so we buy most of ours in the U.S. We just returned from a Florida vacation and was so pleased to be able to find the new Starbucks KCups in Target on the day we came home; they're great. The Dunkin Donuts KCups are good too (you can only buy them in a Dunkin Donuts store though).

I find the hot chocolate is excellent and better than any packet type I've ever tried. I also love the quality of the Gloria Jeans KCups; their Butter Toffee is my favourite and I've stocked up on a few boxes of those.

It's also really nice to have decaf KCups on hand for friends and family who only drink decaf (we don't).

I just recently tried the apple cider and I liked it; it's a bit strong and tangy, but I enjoyed it. The Keurig is handy for tea but it's a really, really expensive way to make tea, considering the low cost of teabags! :)

:teacher: We only use the water from our Brita to put in the Keurig, not straight tap water. I find it makes better tasting coffee. Also, whenever I do a hot chocolate, I immediately remove the KCup and throw it away and then run the machine again, with no KCup in it, to flush out any cocoa residue. Helps keep it all clean!
:)

I got my dad one for Christmas at Sam's Club - $129.99 and comes with 36 cups and the My K-cup.

Make sure you complete the warantee info. Ours died after almost 2 yrs, I called them and they sent a free replacement. I heard of them doing that for others, too. Once I got the replacement, I had to take the little cup holder out of the original to return to them. Not a problem at all and they were soo nice.
The customer service rep on the phone asked if I used the hot chocolate cups, or the extra cup you can fill with your own coffee, as they both are apparently notorious for clogging and breaking it. I don't use it for either, but it was a good thing to find out.
Enjoy!
