I booked a 12:15pm lunch ADR here for our Hollywood Studios day. How is the food here? Would you consider it a good value for a table service lunch (we won't be on the dining plan)? Also is the atmosphere good for young kids? Is it loud inside? Also since we are a family of six, would we have to be split up in two separate cars? Sorry for the overload of questions, we've only experienced counterservice dining at HS :crazy2: Thanks for any feedback on this :thumbsup2

We went there two years ago for lunch, it was during Easter week, so they were backed up and even with an ADR we had a long wait and slow service. The food was fine, not fantastic, but about on par with TGIF or Applebee's maybe. We mostly stuck to sandwiches and burgers. The milkshakes were great. My boys were 8 and 10 at the tmr and did not find it too loud; they loved sitting in the cars. It is dark for the theming and it was very cold, so unless it's 90 degrees out and you need to cool off, bring a sweater. Have fun!

We go every visit as my kids like the "ambiance" and the food as they like simple, basic foods. I think the food is OK but nothing to rave about. Filling and tastes good, so no complaints.

Kids enjoy the drive-in movie theme and the old sci-fi clips are fun to watch and keep everyone entertained while waiting for the food to arrive.

My kids liked the food and LOVED the atmosphere. They were 4 and 7 at that time. They cant wait to go back this june!

Good Evening - My DD and I go to Sci-Fi every year during our annual July vacation trip to WDW.

If my memory serves me right, I think they have open cars available for 6 people. IMO - the food is very good, We always start with the Spinach and Artichoke Dip, followed by the Marble Rye Ruben Sandwich, Onion Rings and my DD 12 loves the Bacon Burger. I agree with the OP, it is pretty much like a TGIF. But its a fun place to cool off and have a quick meal. Also the Milk Shakes are rich and delightful...

We have been very fortunate to have Sarah from Great Britain every year as our Server. Super Server and very hospitable. We always vacation during my B-Day, also Sarah delights us with complimentary Ice Cream desserts with Mickey sprinkles.

Our family went to Disney for the first time in 2011 and I was excited to have dinner at the Sci-Fi. However, we found it to be the worst table service in our 15 day stay. The milk shakes were good - but that was it. To make it worse, the movie clips freaked out my 4.5 year old son - we ended up having them box up our meals because he didn't want to be in there with the movies anymore...we ended up throwing most of those meals away and ordering something from a quick service. I think we are in the minority with this opinion, but we would never go back. Just our opinion!

We just went for the first time in September...awful service and awful food and our party of 5 were in the same car but I was in back by myself. Will NEVER go again.

The last time that we went, we were not on the dining plan so we gave it a try. As for value...nothing at Disney is at value prices, but we would eat there again. It is a good burger and shake place. The atmosphere was fun and different...my kids loved it. I don't remember it being loud, but to see the movies, there is very low lighting. As for 6 people, I would say that you would be seated either in two cars or at a long table.

We enjoyed our food, nothing spectacular mind you, but still pretty good. The shakes were great! The atmosphere was lots of fun. My daughter loved sitting in the car. The video clips they played were odd--not scary, not really entertaining, just weird--really didn't add to our meal. I've heard they have booths for larger families. I think a lot of the fun for our family was sitting in the cars, though. I think for one meal I'd rather be split up into two cars versus sitting in one long booth together. However, they may have a larger car to accommodate bigger parties.

We have been on our 2 previous trips and scheduled an ADR for upcoming June trip! My kids love it (they are 13 and 10 now) The food is nothing special - standard stuff but we enjoy the atmosphere, the movie clips and the milkshakes are yummy! :thumbsup2

We really liked Sci Fi. We might even say we had the best burgers at WDW there (haven't tried every burger in WDW, but these were darn good). The shakes were delicious! :thumbsup2

The ambiance is cool. Like a drive in movie theater. It was actually pretty quiet in there, because people are watching the silly movie clips. It is quite dark in there, but nice and cool....

I would absolutely recommend Sci Fi! :goodvibes

We went last year in May, my kids were 8 and 2 and both liked it, my DH and I also enjoyed it, we got all got hamburgers and some onion rings, the food was fine and our waiter was very nice. I don't remember it being very loud. I would eat there again.

I dined there for an early dinner in January on the DDP. The atmosphere was fun and the dining room was quiet (because most people are eating or watching the film clips.) The milkshakes were great but the dinner entrees were only okay. I'm glad we experienced it but I wouldn't go back, and I especially wouldn't pay out of pocket.

I'm pretty sure the cars seat 6 (2, 2 and 2)... I could be wrong though!

You are exactly right!

We enjoy this restaurant. The burgers and Reubens are tasty as are the apps and milkshakes. Our dd has been twice at 12.5 months and 18 months and we are taking her again in May at 2.5 yrs. She loves the movie clips !

Awful. Payed OOP for this. Dried out burger. Should have gotten a kids meal hotdog as my kids liked that and it looked OK.

Service was also bad.

Atmosphere was unique and I'm glad we went just to try it but thankfully we will never have to go back.

Counter/quick service and table service this was probably the worst meal of the entire trip.

And to rub it in we spent a day at Universal IOA and our bill at Mythos was cheaper than SciFi and 100 % better in service and food quality.

Hello - Just wanted to stop by to say hello. Remember us from last year POFQ??? Glad to see you on the board again. Anjalee has started a July 2013 thread.

Thank you everyone for the feedback. I figured this restaurant would be something different to try out for our upcoming trip, even if just for the experience.

Yes. You will be in one car. 2,2,2. The trouble comes when you have an odd #. Then someone sits alone unless you get the cars with the 4 top tables. We had 3 and requested one of these cars last time. We were sitting very close to another family. But...the food is good enough. You may not have the best meal of your trip here but you wont go hungry! Even the steak was ok. It was very thin so rare was out. But it was tasty. In Disney I think the experiance is part of the fun. And SciFi is fun.
