I'm totally in the dark about these Friendship boats. We spent little time in WS the last two times we visited, being rained out on our second Epcot day each time! What are they all about? They go from where to where? How long do they take? What's the purpose...pleasure only? Or do people Use them as forms of transportation between countries? Are they highly recommended? TIA :wave2:

It goes across the lagoon. It's maybe a 5 minute ride that basically eliminates walking from the back of the lagoon to the front.

The PP posted a great map. They are basically transportation, certainly not an attraction, IMHO. Highly recommend-I don't think so.

in our 12 year annual stint to EPCOT we have taken that trip exactly once. It might save you some time vs walking but not necessarily.

The whole point of the Lagoon is to walk and check out the countries have a drink etched so taking the boat defeats that at least for us.

We have taken it only once in all of our trips also! It was nice, but not a huge time saver.

We usually break world showcase into two days. When we get halfway through we hop a boat back to the front to leave. It's the only time we've used them

We use it as a way to give the kids a break from walking and also because my 8 year old loves boats. :) Not an attraction at all, though. Simply another way to move from front to back of WS.

And older ones too..:o

Exactly so. Not a time saver, especially if one of the boats isn't running (which seems to be more and more often - thanks Shanghai). We'll hop on it if we're headed over for dinner near the back of WS.

I used them a lot last year during F&W, I'd be on one side of lake and want something on the other side or have a seminar. After going around the WS about 3 times I decided my poor feet needed a rest.
