I have never seen anyone actually there? Is it the bar overlooking to lake along the boardwalk attached to Ariel's Grotto? I never go to the park at night so perhaps that is the reason I've never seen anyone there. I'll be going in less than two months and want to try it out.

We love it! It is tough to plan for, since the hours are sporadic, but we usually make it at least once each trip.

You can get the same Karl Strauss beer like they serve at the beer truck, only in frosty glasses instead of neon plastic!! :drinking1

Also, the raspberry mojitos are fabulous! :thumbsup2

The snacks are good too. Our favorites are the lobster nachos and the buffalo wings.

The service can be slow. If it's just the two of you, I'd recommend sitting at the bar.

Have fun!! :goodvibes

Ohhh!!!! It sounds like fun! One of our favorite places at Disney is the Uva Bar in DTD. Is that weird?? What are the hours like?? Just sort of whenever?

We loved our hour at the Cove Bar! Especially b/c Eamon was sleeping in the stroller (passed out out of exhaustion and frustration at not being able to ride Screamin' since he's only 41.5 inches tall) and we had a moment to breathe. (kids are welcome at the tables, but NOT right up at the bar)

Shared the artichoke dip (delicious) and a Pina Colava (not a typo, that's what it's called) and it was a wonderful almost end to our trip.

As you probably know it's the area from the middle to the right of this shot:

Over towards the left of middle, there's a gate with one step up to the area. You can enter there, or you just walk past the Ariel's restaurant sign-in area and go through to the Cove. It's not always open; I took that shot before going over to ask the server I saw in there when it would be open. They were setting up for a little bit from that time. You can see the umbrellas are closed; when we went when it was open, the umbrellas were all open.

View from our table.

To be specific, the "bar seating" at the Cove Bar doesn't face out at all. The barstools are under the "cupola" in my first picture, well I guess if you sat in just the right spot and looked out you could see out.

But to really get the views, from our experience, you need to sit at a table away from the actual bar at the Cove Bar.

:rotfl: at how specific I was getting.

Great pictures Molly! Makes me want to be there right now!

Val, if you go on a Saturday, I would guess that it will be open by 3 or so. Maybe since it's summer it will be open early during the week. We usually go during the off season so I'm sure that's why the hours are weird.

i have my drinks at the bar in the disneyland hotel. I think its calles the top brass by the steak house. the bartenders are cool and very friendly

bumbershoot, you wouldn't happen to have a picture of the dip would you? Thinking of going there next visit, and want the kids to have something to snack on while we're there.

Oh man, we have to go there this month. I still want my darn Glowtini. And DBF loves artichoke dip. Yum yum.

We were just there on Friday, you can go to Ariel's grotto and ask to be seated at the cove bar, they'll point you in that direction. It was very sunny, and only certain tables had umbrellas which was a little sad because I burn so easy and we were there as the sun was starting to set.

We ordered a sunken treasure (SO GOOD) and a vanilla russian (bleck, bitter and gross) I ended up getting a second sunken treasure and it was WAY stronger than the first, maybe they're hands pour more if you're getting more than one drink?

We didn't order food because they only had 1 veggie option and I'm not an artichoke fan. But I find this to be an issue at almost every Disney eatery- not enough veggie options!

We ate at storytellers that night and had a pomegrante cosmo (they have it at the cove bar too) and it was SO good.

here's a photo:

It was sooooooo good.

"I'm not an artichoke fan" :faint:

I do have to tell you...it really didn't taste all that artichokey. I loooooove artichokes and it didn't taste anywhere near artichokey enough for me. And it was too smooshy to get the artichoke texture that would have made it even better. The artichoke dip at Mimi's is a stronger texture, but no where near as good as the Cove's.

It was just dang good.

Thanks for all the help everyone!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE the sunken treasure! Or the shrunken treasure as I call it. And the Glowtini is delicious! I've also sampled the Pina Coolava- very tasty. I think I go to Disney 1/2 for the food and 1/2 for the drinks! The rides are pixy dust!!!! I can't wait for my trip in July. The Cove Bar and the Carnation Cafe are my must haves!

Thanks so much bumbershoot! That looks delicious - and good enough to tempt my kids to take a quick break from the park!

Thanks again! :woohoo:
