I have a PS for lunch at Teppanyaki for our Thanksgiving trip. It will be me, DH, DD11 and DD8. The girls really enjoyed the Japanese counter service food (they went back for seconds!). So, I thought we would enjoy this too. The "entertainment" looks like an added bonus.

I have us budgeted for everyone to get their own meal. How much food would that be? I have heard about people sharing here. How does that work? Is there enough food to share. The girls and I do not eat much. This doesn't seem to be the type of place where sharing would be looked well upon.

Also, I have heard of people using the Vacation Kingdom Lunch vouchers here. I can't quite see that they would be a good value. What are people's experience?

We share meals at Teppanyaki all the time!!!

Believe it or not, DH and I share the salad and the entree- and for us it's plenty. Before we started Atkins, they'd split everything for us (except the salad) and bring and extra bowl of rice. Of course last trip we kind of freaked our server out because we told her not to bring ANY rice. We still had plenty for both of us.

In fact, the other family who was seated at the same table looked at us and said that they wished that they'd thought about splitting..... They really wasted a lot of food.

I hope that this helps..........

Haven't been to the Teppanyaki restaurant in Epcot, but I have been to several others. Generally speaking, the portions are moderate, not huge, but not tiny either.

If three of you are light eaters, ordering 4 entrees will probably be more than you will eat, but then again, that's probably true in most sit-down restaurants.

My son (13 yrs old) and I share Teppanyaki lunches almost every trip. I take the salad or he requests fruit instead and keeps that. The chef splits the servings as they are cooked and puts in right on your plate. He always makes sure to get them as evenly split as possible. Some of the time they have brought out an extra bowl of rice without our even asking. I've never had them give us a hard time and I've never felt bad splitting. Last time we couldn't even finish the whole lunch and this is with a 5'9" football player. We both had more than enough. We stop at Teppanyaki for lunch once or twice every trip. Last night he wanted to know how quick we were going to stop during our Dec. 4 trip. It has been a favorite since trip 1 - we are now on trip 7.

Teppanyaki is also one of our favorite restaurants. We've eaten there during our last 5 trips. Last night we were talking about our next trip and I suggested we cut Teppanyaki and try something else. Needless to say my suggestion was vetoed.

We've had great entertaining chefs and so-so chefs. However the food has always been good.

The portions are pretty big here (smaller at lunch). The adults usually order their own however, my children share a kids meal. But my son (a very picky eater) just loves the white rice and doesn't eat much else.

We are eating here on NYE and I can't wait. From reading everyone posts I see they over feed you. We are not very big eaters either. Does anyone know if we can spilt a meal or because we had to prepay (NYE) this is impossible. Thanks, Gina

You're not prepaying on NYE. You are just holding the reservation with a CC. Feel free to split a meal. You will only be charged for the food you order. Your CC would be charged 10.00 per person if you were NOT to show up. Hope this helps!

Thanks so much, This is such a great idea. My kids and I are not really big eaters and they have to pay full price because they are all over 12. If we just pay for three meals instead of five this is quite a savings. Last trip we just ate one meal a day and snacked the rest of the day. This is such a better idea. Healthier too. Thanks, Gina

We LOVE Teppanyaki!

The portions are much larger at dinner and I have shared meals before with no problem. For lunch the portions are smaller so we all usually get our own. My daughter loves that she can get steak on the kids menu here and my son is happy with the chicken. They have a special kids chicken meal that includes more kid friendly vegetables like carrots, peas and corn, I think.

The meal comes with salad and rice, but you can substitute fruit for the salad, which I do often since I don't care for the ginger dressing.

We've used vouchers here before (some freebies that we had left over from a previous trip) but I don't really think it was a good value for us. My husband did probably get his money's worth with shrimp appetizer and steak and lobster, but I only like the chicken, which is fairly inexpensive. Plus, the desserts aren't much to rave about here. I'd pay cash and save your voucher for another restaurant.

Have fun!

I love the place, but have never gone with my kids. They did open one right down the street from me. The portions are big at dinner I can tell you that, and it is one of my fave meals :) Enjoy your meal there :)

Funhouse 8 We will also be there NYE for Dinner. Maybe we should get a table, your 5 & our 4 and we can split all the meals, that should really freak out the server

This will be our first time we have stayed at WDW thru NYE can wait should be a blast
Your neighbor's in lower Westchester.

Teppanyaki is a great place to go for NYE! We always book it when we're at Epcot. This year we're braving the MK to see the 180-degree fireworks.

maggiew,

I think your kids could easily share one meal. If you like steak, make sure you get the Tenderloin over the New York strip. It is really *much* better. Ask, and they may upgrade you for an additional charge. We usually have the shrimp appitizer or Edamame which is steamed salted soy beans. Very yummy. I think your family would do fine with 2 adult entrees and a child's entree.

My daughter goes to school in Westchester. She is attending Manhattanville College.
We have never been here this time frame either. Really looking forward to it. We are also celebrating my 45th birthday on 12/30/03 with the last night of CP. Eating at San Angel this night.
What time are you having dinner. We have ressies for 8pm - If you have the same time. Hey that would be great to spilt a table. (Not the food part. Don't want to upset the man with the knives!) Gina
