Hello! We are currently booked at YC, but if a great AP rates comes out for SSR we might switch. Our favorite things about the YC are of course the location and the pool. What will we like about SSR?

We really like the Congress Park section .... it is a quick walk (7-10 minutes) to DTD, which we like for a quick Lego fix and I like to shop a bit when the kids are sleeping. The views of DTD from the rooms are pretty nice too.

I also really, really like the pool area -- it has 2 slides, a splashground, waterfall, 2 hot tubs, zero depth entry w/squirty fountains, but is compact enough to offer several good vantage points for supervising the kids without doing the 360 degree head-swivels that I felt compelled to do at SAB. The pool is also very close to the market/CS so grabbing a bite is very convenient.

Also, the community hall and fun pool games are also right there. The resort is large, but also peaceful and beautiful.

This is the response I was hoping for. We like being close to "something" without getting on a bus. I guess we could also visit POR and POFQ as well as DTD. How convenient is it to get to DTD bus service to use as a hub to the other resorts?

This was the view from our balcony:

Another view, there was a quiet pool and hot tub directly behind that courtyard:

We stayed there last May and really enjoyed the resort. Loved taking a nightly walk to DTD, found the quick service area to be nice, the CMs were wonderful and had a really great trip.

I really love SSR also. I think its a really beautiful resort and I love that it is so close to DTD. My favorite section to stay in is Congress Park, because I think it is close to the main pool and dining, but also close to DTD. I also think that the view from the rooms is lovely. DH and I love to have a drink on our balcony and watch the boats go by.

If you want to be right in the action with little to no walking I'd stay at the Springs. While I don't prefer this section, If you have small children or elderly family members or if anyone has mobility problems, the Springs is the most centrally located.

I like that it is a quiet resort, but it is so close to bustling DTD, that you can have your cake and eat it too. I also like that you can take the boat to OKW and POR/PORFQ. Its great if you want to pool hop or try some place new to eat.

I love the pool area also, I think it had a great slide and the bar tenders make some mean libations. It can get crowded, but the pool at the grandstand is also really nice, and there is a bar at that pool as well.

I know that SSR takes a lot of knocks around here, but I personally think that it is an awesome resort.

Oh, and we found it to be very easy to use DTD as a hub to get to other resorts. Its just a quick walk from Congress park, and its alot easier than switching buses twice.

Thank you for your replies. I was just wondering how it compares to Old Key West. We stayed at OKW in 2001 and while I thought the room was great, we had a one bedroom, it was just a little too removed from everything. I just felt like it was too much trouble to go back out after we had our afternoon naps, etc. Maybe it was just having an 8 year old and a 2 year old in tow. The 2 year old is now 9 and much more portable!
